UN US drops a MOAB on ISIS tunnel network - We gon die

Also, going by the landscape, the explosion was neatly contained in that valley, so the number of civilians affected by the bomb should range between a hard "0" and "noone".

Setting it off in that valley was sort of the point of what was at least partly an experiment. They wanted to see if the geographical features would make the overpressure of the device more effective. Or so explains this general: http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-...ht-weapon-for-attack-on-isis-u-s-general-says

This is good. Dead terrorists is good. Sorry, but you cannot negotiate with the likes of ISIS. I consider myself to be a very idealistic person who thinks nonviolence always beats out violence, but not in this case. ISIS members are mass murdering, raping, horrible terrorists and torturers. These are people that burn hostages alive in cages, and laugh and pray to their torment. And some people seriously think that we can just talk them out of being evil.

I totally agree with you; they are evil and maybe it's because I just read an article on Muslim genital mutilation (NSFW) that's got me siding more. (I almost started crying when I read it and saw the pictures.)

Also, last time I checked, nukes have radiation that can make people fatally ill even if you're miles away from the explosion.

My facebook feed is full of REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEing about the Moab.

  • It has ~19,000 pounds of explosives. It's almost as powerful as a nuke!
  • We just launched, not a week ago, 59 Tomahawk missiles with 1000 pound warheads each to the same spot.
So, either people can't count, or they're just full of shit.

Killing people from overpressure is the most horrifying way to die!

  • Secondly, We were dropping Daisy Cutters on similar cave systems under King George the W because it rapidly evacuated the tunnel systems of air. (They originally wanted to try to limit damage to the structures because they had hopes of recovering materials/intelligence.)
  • All anti armor shells rely on overpressure to kill the occupants of enemy armor, how is drowning in your own blood now the worst death imaginable when it hasn't been a problem since the invention of HEAT?

They could have fixed Flint's water problem with the cost of the bomb they just dropped 2.75x over!

  • Moab Price per unit. 16 million
  • Flint Infastructure repair estimate 216 million
  • Assholes on facebook not being able to do math: Priceless.
They're just normal, fairly easily manipulated people like any of us. It's like how people can kick up a fuss that a rifle is black with a pistol grip and not be concerned much at all by something more formidable like a Garand. Pls spare the normies your wrath you wacky Aztec war god ;_;

What makes me laugh is all these retards who think that this will create more ISIS fighters and that 'love' is the only way to stop terrorism. Hint: No. Some people will kill you no matter what.

Especially ISIS. What most people don't realize is that ISIS is a fundamentalist death cult that wants to draw the West into the entire middle east and spark a war that they expect to be on the losing side of. Then, at the moment Islam will be defeated, Jesus will return and kill all the non-believers and Islam will then rule the world.

Yeah, go ahead and try the love option with a doomsday death cult. I look forward to the video of you being castrated and then sodomized with a machete.

So many on the alt-right are bitching, despite this being a clear fulfillment of his campaign promise to 'knock the hell out of ISIS."
Some of the alt-right are the sov-cit, no interaction with anything outside the US at all nutbars. The type that don't want us even having any bases outside of the US, and all soldiers should've been immediately brought home as soon as Trump was elected. Granted, I don't want us getting tied up in Syria, but a bomb being dropped on enemies we're still fighting (yeah we're still there, boots on the ground and all) sounds awesome to me.

The "this will create more terrorists" angle might have had some weight to it... if the bomb was set off in/near a civilian area. Basically all reports have confirmed that the likelihood of the bomb killing civilians/causing collateral damage is close to zero. The only people who would be radicalized by this event are those who are already terrorist sympathizers, so fuck them anyway.

Also, like I mentioned before, I consider myself to be an peaceful, idealistic person who believes that most people can redeem themselves. But ISIS... ISIS is in a completely different ballpark. They are the closest thing to "evil" you can witness in the world. These are people who joyfully destroy the lives of thousands of innocent, defenseless people. For fuck's sake, they publicly burned a group of Yazidi women alive for refusing to have sex with them and beheaded a 15-year-old boy because he was listening to Western pop music. These aren't poor, misunderstood misfits who just need a good hug.

Fuck, even the Taliban could be reasoned with, or at least intimidated into backing down on some things. This is a suicide cult dedicated to its own destruction and the destruction of everyone else. On top of that, it's about time we dropped one of these things just to see what happens.

Nah, those are Paulbots. I assume some are still in an ice cream and cake fantasy about Trump, and forgot about his policies with exception to immigration and what he has already achieved.

During the Soviet-Afghan war there were groups of Taliban Mujahideen that killed Arab foreigners who were fighting along side them.

The reason for killing them? The Arab's were too fanatical about Islam....especially the ones from Saudi Arabia.

I guess the lesson from that is not to piss and moan about how the guys fighting with you aren't religious enough...especially if they are armed.

Its hilarious that nobody on the left ever thinks: "Hrm, why was every single country in the ME in the 1960s onward ruled by crazy dictators who were secular?" (Answer isn't colonialism you leftist cunts). Its because the only way they could rule was murdering and torturing the shit out of the fanatics who wanted to go like ISIS. (Yes, they tortured and killed plenty of innocents too. I'm not saying they didn't. But then again, they didn't impose burkas and ISIS shit either. So take your pick. Fundamentalists who murder people or Dictators who are secular who murder people. The region has basically been one or the other since the dawn of time). But deposing them gave the way for Arab fundamentalists.

The most ironic thing is that the Arab Spring WASN'T a democratic uprising against dictatorships. It was a FUNDAMENTALIST rise against dictatorships so they could impose their own dictatorships, that were fundamentalist instead of secular.

The left has no fucking clue about the region and just why terrorist acts are committed. They hate the West and have no respect for it. They are completely disconnected from fucking reality.

ISIS is a cult of death. They can't be reasoned with. They can't be rehabilitated. They seek destruction and destabilization of the entire region and will gladly rape and murder members of other Muslim faiths. You think if they are willing to do that to their own people that a Westerner could teach them other ways with hugs and kisses? I want them to try. I want these people to put their money where their mouth is. But the fact is, they are cowards who know they are full of shit. They know they'll be murdered and tortured as soon as their white skin is seen. The only way to deal with people like ISIS is to kill them. Sometimes, there is no diplomacy to be had.

And yup, this is pretty much what Thermobaric bombs were created for. Obviously you don't drop them near civilians, because that's not what its meant for at all. Its not a precision strike, it is denial of assets. Theoretically it could also be used on chemical weapons facilities because of the negative pressure it creates would suck air inward, so it'd suck the dispersed chemicals inward, destroying them with the heat instead of blasting them outwards. Same with biological weapons. This was developed during Iraq because of those two possibilities as well.

There's no real reason this merits concern or is a story beyond 'this is the first time we used this'. Its not even comparable to a nuclear weapon. Even the Fat man was 21 kilotons. The MOAB is equivalent to 11 tons. The first atomic bomb is 2,000 times more powerful. Even Russia's FOAB is equivalent to 44 tons, both don't even break a hundred. (And the first A-Bomb is still 500 times more powerful than Russia's FOAB).

The hand-wringing and crying about this is fucking baffling. The weapon is clearly not designed to be used anywhere near a civilian population. And there are much cheaper alternatives for it if it is near one. It is clearly meant to destroy infrastructure and structures nowhere near AA shit, because the fucker basically floats for awhile. People are only crying about this because of Trump. They are so shallow and transparent.

^Well, it sort of was because of colonialism if you consider the Ottoman Empire, which leftists don't because it was ruled by Muslims. In fact, the West Europeans gave them more autonomy.

Only progressives can think that a religion and region where they had one of the largest Empires for over a century is 'oppressed'. If you look at history, Muslims were very rarely oppressed in their history and maybe for about 40 or so years.

Isolationism isn't a sovereign citizen thing, and not having bases all over the world and not intervening in every other country's affairs is the default foreign policy of 99% of the world. I'm not so naive to think that any president is going to be able to pull the entire military back to the USA and get us out of all the conflicts we're currently embroiled in, but making isolationism out to be a completely wackadoodle, extremist idea just feeds the military machine that drives us deeper and deeper into debt, destroys other countries, and makes our people even more of a target abroad than they were before.

How long until demands are called to rename the MOAB

I've seen pictures of Middle Easterners in the 60s and 70s and it's amazing how much happier the people (especially the women) looked. I'm not exalting those secular tyrants and I'm sure there were moments of major unhappiness.

It certainly didn't help the middle east that certain superpowers did their best to get rid of secular, somewhat moderate rulers (who happened to not favor their intrusions) with goatfucking shitstains that were just too eager to swear a thousand oaths in exchange for some military or monetary support.
