So what is everyone's favorite/least favorite heart holiday treats?

I'll throw a few of mine down to start:

Faves
Russell Stover box candy - it's cheap goodness
Russell Stover Strawberry Cream Heart - Always enjoy these for some reason and they're like 50 cents

Hates
Candy Hearts with the writing on them - Taste like chalk.
Palmer chocolate - its nothing but wax and sugar.

These are the greatest chocolates to ever grace this god given earth.

And these are from Satan.

I'm a fan of anything chocolate.

But if I get one more pack of cinnamon hearts, I'm gonna cry.

There's a specialty chocolate store near me that makes Heresies taste like plastic. None of the fancy shit, just creamy, delicious chocolate.

While I agree the hearts taste like chalk, its become such a tradition where I am and amongst my family and friend groups that it now tastes like delicious chalk.

The real stuff, not this white chalk painted with red acrylic.

Captain Morgan is pretty good in terms of bang for buck; smooth, tasty, cheap. Cîroc is expensive but really smooth (especially for vodka) and their subtle flavors are nice and surprisingly don't need much mixer. Scotch on the rocks is god tier, a nice bottle of Glenlivet helps get the day done.

This is the only candy I want.

I love chocolate covered cherries and strawberries. I may make some this year for fun.

Chocolate Strawberries definitely can be good, just a lot has to be factored in to make them worthwhile. The type of chocolate, you want the chocolate shell to be hard enough to keep shape but not too hard like glass, fresh strawberries. I also prefer dark chocolate.

You reminded me of another one I hate, Queen Anne Chocolate Covered Cordial Cherries. Good lord those are nasty.

Making both at home is probably the best choice.

Those Ferrero Rocher chocolates will always be the tops for me. I think they combine the perfect mix of crunch and chocolate.

I enjoy those little candy hearts with the words on them- I actually love that chalky taste because it stops me from eating an entire box at once.

I hit up a local candy store the day after. They have this 2 lb. thing that’s a solid chocolate heart molded box stuffed with their individual pieces of chocolate. No way will I pay full price for it, but at 50% off hell yeah. I’m set for a month or more with it.

As far as I’m concerned they have far better chocolate than Godiva, and at better prices. Rocky Mountain Candy company is pretty close though as a nationwide brand. Never really liked See’s Candy though, even when I had it in California.

Poundland had these chocolate hearts this year that were made by Kinnerton, who make advent calendars.

Needless to say I bought a lot of them, because I fucking love cheap advent calendar chocolate.

I love those little conversation hearts. I've eaten them my entire life, they are one of the few things from my childhood that are still around and still mostly unchanged. Necco dicked with their recipe a few years ago and ruined them for a few years until enough consumers told them their new flavors sucked ass and got them to bring back the classic ones. Those were some sad Valentine's Days.

I don't really like anything else, candy-wise. Chocolates aren't specific to the occasion so I don't really count it. But I can echo the sentiment that the crap that Palmer makes is garbage. Always check the ingredients when you're dealing with cheaper chocolate, if you see "partially hydrogenated oil" stay the fuck away. It's gross imitation waxy shit. Seriously. You can't even melt that type of chocolate because it's not chocolate, it will literally just burn. It's nasty.

They were out of the heart box I was talking about. (:_(

On the other hand, they had a lot less extra left overall. I don’t know if it’s because they made less or if it’s because sales were better this year than they’ve been for a while.
