Alright, I bit the bullet and downloaded the game. Honestly, I'm just 5 minutes in but I think I've seen it all.
The UI is basically a Steven Universe copy/paste design-wise (colors and fonts), as seen on all the promo images. As for the game "mechanics"... View attachment 1438127
It's basically what we've seen in promo screenshots, nothing extraordinary. You start off the game by picking one character to play (on the left) and one to text (on the right). Then it seems to be a normal VN. It's weird that they make you pick the match you want from the get-go though: doesn't that seem to go against the point of dating VNs?
As for the writing...

Also, this is made in Ren'py. I can't remember if this has been brought up before, but it's unsurprising. I don't know how the engine works, but I don't think it needs two programmers, since it was made to be easy to use from what I understand. (There again, they didn't need so many artists either...)
Isabelle Morrigan. Latina yet she has a Celtic deity as a surname... guess they were either too lazy to do the research and google “most common Hispanic surnames” or similar, or didn’t care and just wanted to give her a snowflake name. Or it’s an homage to Dragon Age.
(There’s always the possibility she changed it... but if she’s so proud of her ethnicity why would she pick a name associated with a different one?)

Not to mention that Morrigan or rather Morrigu is a goddess of warfare. And I really really really can't asociate this with this "character". Morrigan from Dragon Age was at least hot and snarky. This is just plain ugly

I think he was meant to be awful considering a few tweets earlier in this thread, iirc. The main writer seems very cynical and more biased towards, well, non cis non het non males (and no whitey ofc). She could be using him to get some issues out of her system, perhaps?
However, I'm pretty sure the others were meant to be flawed, but quirky and likeable in spite or because of it. Malik comes out on top for me for his carefree attitude and him slipping anyone who he talks to his mixtape.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but a dating game based around pairing up other people instead of a strictly self insert fantasy sounds kind of neat. Like expanding the support system of Fire Emblem games (which is what most modern players play it for, lets be real) into their own game. I just wish it was done by someone competent.
Also, I didn't see anybody point out from the kickstarter that it says there's supposed to be 'over 30 routes' across 20-30 hours of gameplay? That's less than an hour per route.

I was so blinded by the retardation that was their financial plan that I missed that. Beating a dead horse here, but Katawa Shoujo is also 500k works for only 5 routes. It takes several hours to do each route, probably about 20-25 to read all 5. How the fuck are they squeezing 30 routes into this? Is it going to be 1/2 dates per character before end credits role with the two characters fucking?
Every time I see this layout it reminds me that this trainwreck would make a much better fighting game than a dating simulator.
Just imagine it cutting to ROUND 1 : FIGHT when Anoki gets insulted instead of a dialog choice.
