I thought the same exact thing of her not being cut out for character design, but she has a link in her Twitter bio that takes you to her art gallery, and real shit, she has some genuine fucking talent. I’m honestly surprised that underneath the bad character design in ValiDate lies some actual competence. There’s a few iffy pieces here and there, but she shows that she does understand design and color matching. For some reason it all went out the window in this game.

Note she had set her heart emojis to red and black in the previews screenshots, now they're orange. She basically publicly threatened to hurt herself just because someone was mean to a bad fictional character she wrote and drew.

The last thing I (And I'm pretty sure everyone else on this thread) want is for you to actually harm yourself.
Yeah it can hurt, when people insult ya craft and things you've worked on, but it's part of being a content creator.
People are gonna dislike things you make, but that doesn't mean they dislike you as person.
And if seeing these things actually triggers a mental break down in, then step away from the computer, and take time to cool down.
At the end of the day people are gonna have negative opinions, and if they trigger you, you can ignore them (You are not obligated to look at them) and take break if you need to.

It is incredibly odd that any Asian characters in the game are also mixed black, latino, whatever. It's like full blooded Asians are too white or something, and everyone would notice if you drew them darker than they are in real life. That's so crazy because that's their natural skin tone, they can't change it. It's not like they have a European skin tone, either, if you have any skill as an artist you can distinguish lighter Asian skin tones from white skin tones.

It's understandable when you compare Ashlie's design to the rest of the cast, though. You take what you can get when 10% of the cast look unlike Tumblr stereotypes.

I think you’ve been on Tumblr too long. All of that art just looks like generic Tumblrtrash. Not eye-searing enough to go in the SJW art thread, not noticeable enough for anywhere else. I think what's the most damning about these people has to be how hypocritical it is for them to make a game to appeal to minorities, but exclude others and hold just as bad beliefs about racism. With all the shit happened they really aren't in a position to talk about anything anymore considering their dirty laundry has been aired. That "apology" for the white people stuff was one thing, but finding out some of your artists aren't good people really sets the icing on the cake.
As plenty of people have pointed out, this is what happens when you don't go in with pure intentions. I have no doubt now these people made this out of spite rather than wanting to make something they really enjoyed. And to some degree it's a shame, because none of it had to be this way if they just kept their mouths shut. It would've just been a generic dating sim with some cringy moments (okay, the entire game, but still) but at very least, it would've slid under the radar and just be a generic crappy game. Now we're reaching Two Scoops (Paige) levels of incompetence. Meaning all the drama is going to overtake anything else about the game.
And the sad part? They have no one to blame but themselves. They egged people on to act this way and to treat their game this way. So in other words, you reap what you sow.

So, has anyone compiled an list of all the characters' nationalities? Because I already roasted the South Korean/French one for being black and historically inaccurate. I'm just curious if the devs have put more random shit together.

Even the islanders, like the Filipinos, have some pretty tan skin, but none dark enough to make them look black.
Damn, you think so? I didn’t think this was as bad as some Tumblr art out there. I didn’t really notice any Tumblr-esque features. It doesn’t suffer from those random red marks on the nose, elbows or knees, giving characters unnecessary stretch marks, making them needlessly obese, giving them any sort of unneeded skin condition, all to be inclusive. I may have been hexed, but I do find the art in the examples I shared to be pleasant to look at.
