Alrighty, for those of you who don't care: Bahrani is essentially a scaled down version of Kuwait and is in the same region. Plus, I doubt if they'll get along with an South African. But Emhari should be wearing an Muslim cloak for obvious reasons.

Yolanda is dressed more like a nigger than an Asian or an European and I doubt that no self-respecting Cuban would turn out like Catherine.

Ashlie fits the "Thai ladyboy" stereotype, but Ecuador is what, in South America? Hooray for sex tourism!

The only thing that's remotely believable is Isabelle in terms of geographical proximity, but international travelling is expensive or impossible for South Americans.

I could do more, but my point's been proven. Of course, they could always use Americanized as an excuse, but it doesn't fix the character design.

emhari is actually qatari, not bahraini (the flags are super similar though, it's easy to mix up)

The qatari people are quite light skinned, so emhari is another character who looks more black instead of asian.

The only way you'd have Bahrani and South African is if the Bahraini fucked the "technically notaslave but we confiscated their passport and will throw them in jail and beat them if they try to leave" help. And mostof those are South Asian, not South African.

Almost NONE of these characters (at least the ones that were presented in the demo) even showed anything related to their race in a way that wasn't a walking stereotype. I mentioned it beforehand but they all might as well be the same American + minority young adult hipster stereotype because they're all written the same way.

Every character talks the same way (with only very little inflections of their nationalities coming through) and despite the scenarios being different, it all blends in together because the reactions are so boring. Granted, dating sims don't have to have the most exciting plots. Even the simplified ones, but at least games like Katawa Shoujo knew how to write engaging drama with your love interests. The writing is full of such garbage text-speak. It's like a valley girl trying to write a novel. Only here it's memes that will be outdated in 10 years. Word of advice, avoid using memes in your games UNLESS it's part of the character's stitch. It's horribly dated and completely takes you out of the story's atmosphere.

I swear, reading the previous summaries of other members going through the demo, I didn't even get a GLIMPSE of any of these characters being who they are DESPITE the creators saying this game is supposed to be about race being important with these appealing to other minorities. It's either over-exemplified or underused. It really doesn't help that these stories are just fucking boring to tell. It's such a waste of time. If you want a dating sim, make a dating sim! If you wanted a slice of life AU, stick to fanfiction because all it does is make this mess of a game have even worse pacing and storytelling than usual.

ive been having a big old think about how theyd implement the token white character if they got some saudi prince to finance up to 32 grand. while it seems silly to give them any credit, the occasional flicker of competence (one or two vaguely funny quips, the music not sucking ass) indicates that they might be crafty enough to not go the totally obvious route. so, heres my predictions for what happens with whitey, from most to least likely

• a waitress, bus driver, or some kind of flashback character like a teacher, who has one line that consists of 'heres your food' or 'see you later'. they have a portrait and this appearance is immediately followed up with some passive-aggressive internal thought like 'immediately putting that encounter out of your mind, you ruminate some more on how youre a nig' or whatever
• some post-credits strawman character who has a tantrum that they didnt get to appear in the game proper
• just someone in the background whos horribly distorted by the shit filters (i think this is less likely because it doesnt quite twist the knife enough)
• a side character whos a total bastard. abusive ex, catcaller, stalker, nazi, you know. they show up and cause panic attacks and you have to uwu soft bean soothe the person youre trying to romance
• a takeshis challenge-style super secret character who you have to dig for just so they can say 'you found me lol' and thats it
• a full character with full romance/friendzone routes, but theyre super fat, super autismo, or a total cunt
• a full character with full romance/friendzone routes whos on the same level as everyone else in terms of personality (aka fat, autismo, and cunt, but its not self-aware)

I notice that when the devs introduce themselves, they don't say something like, "Hi my name is [name] and I tend to be a bit [personality]." None of them describe their personality in their introductions at all. It's always their gender orientation/identity and their race like, "Hi my name is [name] and I'm a [race] [gender identity]." It's almost as if their race and gender is their whole personalit--oh, wait.
