I honestly don’t remember. It was mentioned on Kiwi Farms to laugh at, but it might’ve been something in the Media subforum, Social Justice Warriors, the Shipper thread, possibly A&N, or somewhere else. I was catching up on a lot after being busy and away from the site for several days.
You are waaaaaay too late to the party on that one. Just recently there was some cartoon where the villain character said/did something villainous and the “fans” began screaming at the VA over twitter like the actor had killed their children. In fandom spaces there’s already a purity death spiral where writing about bad things=supporting bad things. In the media side you have the Disney live action films about the villains like Maleficent and Cruella (her mom was killed by dalmations!).
The only unredeemingly evil creatures on the planet are Trump supporters.
Edit: The way this has disappeared reminds me so much of tumblr fans. A specific type. The ones who will post constant “headcanons”, or racebent fanart, but can’t actually write a plot if a gun was to their head. They will easily spit out “Harry Potter was an autistic Indian who was asexual and demiromantic with ae/aer pronouns” but can’t actually write a story where any of that makes sense or even matters.
In effect all the artists were rambling on about their OCs and never actually had a storyline.
These days OCs are boring, one dimensional blurbs about pronouns. I dare any of these people to write a competent story with one of their OCs that isn't solely based on genderspecialism, autism and skin color. Even the Mary Sues of 20 years ago were more colorful in personality.
And since so many OCs are self inserts it just shows how dull this generation really is. Even the old "I'm half neko, half angel, half Super Saiyan sailor senshi" type trash had more going for it.
Imagine spending all day on social media making up brown, transgendered, non-binary, autistic, aromantic demisexuals with one leg.
I've mentioned it before but I've met otherwise rational women with that mentality. The example I've used previously is me saying that Doug Stamper from House of Cards was a good character only to be met with a childish "NO! He's evil!" - from a fan of the show! Write all the bad characters and actions out of that show and what do you have left?
It's like the things I've heard about pro-wrestling from the 60's and 70's where people actually bought into everything being real and that guy is actually a bad guy because... [hamsterwheel spinning] ...no it's just like that.
I recall that actor from The Heights, Jamie Walters got a ton of hate because he also played Donna's abusive boyfriend on Beverly Hills 90210. The character was completely different from the guy that sang "How Do You Talk To An Angel". Walters said that girls would throw things at him in public and ask him how he could do that to Donna. He didn't really have much of a career after that. Playing abusive scumbag Ray Pruit was career poison.
People do conflate the actor with the character and will try to hold them accountable for just reading lines and taking cues written by someone else.
I'm gonna second that. There was more memes than work here. They tried to create a fandom for a game that didn't exist. It's supposed to be broken up into parts now. But if even one part actually gets released I'll be astounded. And you know we won't see additional parts even if that does happen.
Also, call me a slowinthemind but I just noticed that Inaya's new art just looks like someone traced over the old one with a nicer version of the palette.

Maybe after getting their OCs somewhat viral in their circle via the memes they are done with it already. I think the artists were excited about spreading their OCs far and wide and getting recognition for being able to draw brown, genderspecial hot messes. But in the end they were just shallow blurbs accompanying bad art. And even with the new sprites and a more cohesive style the drive to go on is past its prime already.
I think Dani and everyone else involved are bored with this. It was just meme masturbation. Pure and simple. Trying to squeeze out a multipart VN from this must feel excruciating.
So I'm wondering if Dani will indeed put out a full part 1 then quit. Like. According to that dev team chart, they have 8 artists and an art director. They have one person doing all of the spritework now as well as seemingly most of the promo art. What the hell is everyone else doing now?
The fact that this is arguably (please correct me if I'm wrong) the only romance visual novel with any buzz behind it in current year is pain.
A bunch of titles from the visual novel crowd funding race have been abandoned. The last noteworthy western title that popped up outside the niche on steam was Dream Daddy. Which, despite my issues with it, should really have a sequel by now. You're not making money any other way, Arin.
There's also Monster Prom spin-off/sequel, Monster Camp, which kicks off that development team's descent into a mask-off: inferior, middling, or at best same-y content being chopped up and spread apart like Sims 4 DLC.
Arcade Spirits, which I believe is the only title here that didn't have a Youtube personality involved in its production, was reminiscent of the western visual novels of old, i.e. a complete product put up for consumption, but the demo for it's upcoming sequel is... painfully woke. Not just that but painfully terrible. No clue what happened to the writing team or even the art direction; at least the folks in the first game had personality and hugged up to tropes beyond "am gay/non-binary/the worst".
