It's not that far removed from tsukomogami stuff like with Touhou and their cute girl who was originally an umbrella, musical instrument ect... Looks like that's what they are kinda going for with personifying the objects. It might be amusing if it doesn't take itself too seriously.

The amount of writing you'd need to get done would be pretty extensive. It's a good idea. But unless they resort to AI that's a lot of time and money for each datable character. Plus you have to think, how far does each relationship go? Will this be a case of a few main characters getting the best routes while everything else is bare bones? Reusing texts with minor differences?

I wouldn't be surprised if it launches with a pared down cast and the promise of DLC that may or may not ever materialize.

Ans I just had a horrible idea for a hentai dating sim where you date girls panties personified as cute waifus. And I think something like that might actually exist too. :cringe:

Here's to hoping that the industry sheds this nonsense while the titles are on hold.
 
Not to mention that a handful of companies are seemingly starting to trim some of the fat that is the DEI movement, or at least that's what they're telling journos and the public.

Though part of me wonders if there's a "DEI failure to AI usage" pipeline. "Well, DEI was expensive, cost us a lot of money and fundamentally failed and those were humans. Why not just not hire humans and do everything with AI - it doesn't complain and we don't have to pay it for its shitty opinions"
 
So what's the official verdict of the game?

I went to the game's steam discussion page and it's basically dead. At least Dustborn's page is buzzing with activity, even if 99% of them are from people laughing at its failure.

For us, the deadbeat dad is by far, the only good character. Everything else is an dumpster fire, the dev was actively scaring away her writers, some other chick was mocking it on YouTube...

The game is incredibly likely to be an flop

I think it's more or less dead, yeah. I don't even know if they released all of the content they planned.
 
I know i'm just bringing this shit from the dead but hey, i just happened to check how this trashfire is going. So far it's on Steam for 12 eurobux with overall mixed reviews. Most positive reviews speak about how great it is to date trannies, nigger faggots with baggage and all sorts of genderspecials that cry about it.

Negative reviews speak mainly about the game being filled with typos, despite being a dating sim you get to know very little about the characters and deepen your relationship with them, how most interactions are about them crying about being trannies, pooners or genderspecials and the game being in Early Access for 3 years with no updates nor content for a very long time.

It's dead in the water and the devs just moved on. Nothing new under the sun

From the very concept the game had no appeal even for a niche like Visual Novels they pigeonheld themselves into an audience that realistically we know doesn't buy anything just thinks screaming about it on social media is support. The whole thread proves the point that these types of games are not made for entertainment first which is what ever piece of entertainment needs to be on a base level. I can't get over how funny it was they begrudgingly added a white dude character and purposefully tried to make him as boring as possible but is the most reasonable person to talk to if you look at the game as a piece of real life.

The game is interesting as a case study of the "why do we never get good relationships" crowd and you see it's full of completely insufferable people that most folks wouldn't even want to have a passing conversation with.

I even remember how the devs bitterly commended how the community considered the only white guy in the roster their favourite character despite being made as a rich daddy's boy with an edgy streak.

Aside from that, these people do not make art or stories for the sake of telling something compelling, being entertaining or trying to deliver a message. Rememeber that this crowd sees everything through the lens of politics since everything is political or implicitly political. Thus everything the do must be a piece of propaganda. And on top of that insufferable fact, every character they try to portray as cool, modern, hip or good ends up being a crybaby that is perpetually a victim and doesn't show any kind of change or resolution.

Because you can make a character that cries a lot and has a lot of drawbacks, but the thing that makes them compelling is overcoming their defects. Unfortunately, for all leftoids their characters are perfect since second one. Thus, no need for them to evolve as people, move on from their gripes or transform.
