Pretty much. The main dev has made another visual novel in collaboration with one of the artists before, IIRC.
They all come from a place in Homestuck fandom that's basically trying to monetize/"profissionalize" fandom and this kind of creation as much as possible. I saw there is a Homestuck devs thread here so the regulars there probably know what I'm talking about. They all have Patreons, kofis, etc. Even if they get no pledges or donations it's considered cool to have something "professional" in your bio.
You could also say that anyone with some real life experience then just being in the Twittersphere can come up with better dating sims then those wannabe SJW's.
The wider gaming industry is having this problem also. Earlier games had developers who had diverse interests and life experiences and struggled to put those to code. Other devs nowadays are immersed in a gaming/geek subculture that is too self-referential.

I haven't talked to these people in a while, but I've always disagreed with their politics (the main dev is known for picking fights in the Homestuck fandom and harassing people for drawing her favorite characters as white) but calling them out on it would end in insane amounts of witch hunting, so I simply didn't speak up. I no longer talk to them, so I don't mind coming to the Farms with tidbits of info.
Why am I not surprised to hear that the developers are bunch of petty, vindictive shits that hate white people? Oh yeah, because that describes about 99.99% of all SJWs. For all their preaching of tolerance of other people, they are the least tolerant people around.
There are ton of these games already out on the Switch and I assume Steam.
The only one that I can remember the name of is Later Daters, which is where you date a bunch of old people that are actually just 20-something tumblrites wearing boomerskin costumes. For inclusivity, one of them is even HIV positive. As you can guess one of the selling points of the game is being LGBT friendly, which we know all boomers are very concerned with.
There is another one featuring "Magical Girls" that are all formless Tumblr blobs and another that looks like it's trying to ride on the coattails of Cyberpunk, but I could never be troubled to learn more about them. The only games you can ever expect SJWs to reliably finish are dating Sims, since their entire lives are consumed by and they are endlessly obsessed with sex.
All of these characters have the most random, incongruous ethnic backgrounds like they were randomly generated by some D&D DM trying to fill out a town with NPCs.
They must have had an extreme desire to check as many boxes as possible even if it isn't realistic. Sounds like race fetishism to me. But POCs totally can't do that so they are innocent little souls.

Catherine is a country girl and her profile says she is easy to forget. If she is strutting around a rural community looking like that I don't think that anyone would be able to forget. I can imagine people pulling their children away as she waddles down to whatever passes for a shopping district to buy snack cakes and body glitter.

That's a pretty funny way to put it, not gonna lie. There's no real backstabbing story here, which is boring but likely for the best.

A surprising portion of the characters is cis. I'll just dump the full file I received last year.
Backstory (1 paragraph): Alonzo is the biggest fuckboy in this game. He has dated everyone else in the game and has regrets about all of them. Probably wants nothing to do with them and always accounts their breakups as “he ended it” even though it is typically the other way around. He is confident, loud and always wants everyone to know his opinions. He has a podcast about fitness in the black community and uses his platform to slander black women and praise white women.
This guy looks like a major jerk and I don't see why he would be an appealing route unless you did it to see if he gets any comeuppance. So far I don't see any white female characters to date. So there's no way to see the other side of the story with Alonzo. It's either a vendetta or an attempt to address the issue of black men praising white women. And since he has a fitness podcast you know this is about fat black women vs wafer thin Beckys.
Also, I missed it at first glance but Alonzo is gay. This makes no sense. If he also dates women wouldn't he be bi? Some of the characters are female yet he has dated them all, I guess you can be gay and then experiment with dating women. But it seems more like he has an addiction to treating people like hot garbage then broadcasting the results to the whole world.
How is Yolanda's ethnicity French and Korean when she is blasian? Ethnic Frenchies are wypipo. That's like me saying I am Native American because I was born in the USA. You might be able to say it technically kinda works. But think harder and it is flat out incorrect since ethnicity and nationality are not the same thing.
