Made by the polish studio that made Ghostrunner 1 and 2, One More Level.
Getting some Dishonored vibes.
Coming in 2026.

Looks interesting so far.

No wonder it looked good, it was made by Poles. It seems like these guys are the only eurocucks making decent, or at least interesting games nowdays.
Looks pretty good, I don't care for the soulslike genre but I am very interested in the setting.

A "Napoleon inspired" soulslike?

That sounds a little strange, although then again if years ago someone had told me they'd make a pretty cool soulslike based on pinocchio I would've told them it sounded like one of the dumbest things I'd ever heard. In a post Lies Of P world I don't know what to think anymore.

I dont like souls likes but I do love napoleonic wars stuff specially since your playing on the side of the french.

Oh sweet there's actual gameplay. It's a little different than what I expected, significantly slower, which I'm cool with as individual grunts seem to pose at least some threat.

Aesthetically, it looks a lot like like Witchfire, a game that I'm currently very invested in and has been progressing through early access swimmingly. Gameplay wise, not so similar.

Yeah it looks good, one of the rare highlights of yesterday.

is this the only game idea anybody fucking has anymore? Souls in the future. Souls but it's robots. Souls but it's Pinnochio. Souls but it's Chinese mythology. Souls but it's Korean android girls. Souls but it's anime. Souls but it's 2D. Souls but it's first person. Souls but it's a roguelite. jesus fucking christ. Souls but it's the Napoleonic Wars looks just as rote and uninspired as 2012's hottest new military shooter. Ghostrunner was fucking lit though so maybe it'll have some juice.

I can't ever finish soulslikes because they get stale before it's over

I loved ghostrunner.

I agree with the guy earlier that there are waaaay too many soulslikes getting made these days, but also, I do love a really well made soulslike.

Atmosphere and setting seems really cool. There is no such thing as a day one purchase for me anymore, but I'll be keeping this one on my radar.

Here's some more gameplay footage.

I didn't like the Ghost Runner games at all, and I haven't liked the VAAAAAST majority of 2D or 3D soulslikes that have released since Dark Souls 2.

But something about this still makes me wanna give it a try.

Probably mostly the offhand firearms, because I've played very few games where that's a combat style they allow and Bloodborne probably isn't going to emu on my PC well no matter how far that comes along.

Based on the little gameplay I have watched, the "souls-like" tag seems more like it's for marketing purposes, the game may end up being like Tainted Grail that launched months ago, it depends on how many rpg elements they'll put, we'll see.

There's an upcoming playtest coming soon, if you are interested, you can request access to the playtest on their steam page or here https://valormortis.firstlook.gg/

I actually disagree; it has every hallmark of what constitutes a "soulslike" (perish the term), much more so than other titles that are ascribed it like Remnant and the monkey game. We're talking "souls", leveling via souls, bloodstain, bonfires, parries, ripostes, respawning enemies, area bosses, dodging, even a lock on (though it seems more like a simple target marker) in first person. Whether or not it does any of those things well is different discussion.

Just got an email confirming I got into the playtest. Did anyone else request access?

Why do all these games have the narrowest FOV ever with no way to adjust it?

It's kind of important in a first person game to see if you're being attacked from the sides and where the enemies are coming from.

Are you asking rhetorically? The answer to the FOV question is and always has been consoleniggers.
