Valve introduces Steam Deck

first thing I'd do is check the logfiles and what's actually happening, linux is usually very good when it comes to that. might be as simple as permissions or disk space it doesn't throw an error for and you can only find out this way.
Where would you go about finding the logs files for RPCS3 on the Deck?

Been using my Deck for 4 months now, been enjoying it immensely despite some quirks with using it as a TV PC. I would advise using the deck plugins, as vibrant deck can make the display look better and protondb to see how well the Steam Deck can run games

Same about 4 months myself. Really enjoy it, however I've been mostly playing nintendo switch and wiiu games on it lol.

I finally got emu deck set up for GameCube/Wii/PS2 emulation, though for the moment I am burning through my backlog of old steam games that I've never beat. The best thing about steam as a whole though is the Steam Cloud, I had to reformat my 1TB sd card for the fucker and almost all of the games I was playing through save files were present.

Yea same with epic. I purchase very few games as I mostly pirate everything unless it's deserving of my dollar (example FTL/Into the Breach/rimworld). So most of my games are on the epic library since I claim all of their free offers and lots of them are really good games. Fortunately you can play them on the deck and epic's cloudsave ensures you can pick up where you left off.

If a game is Verified on Steam will the EGS version also work? And how easy is it to get them going?

Yes, I know a lot of people are using HGL (heroic game launcher), but I'm just using Lutris since that's what I've been using on my pc for years. It's super easy to setup and it really just depends on the game but that's also why I love lutris because if anything is wonky chances are high there's already a script and solution 1 click away in Lutris. You can use Lutris to launch all of your steam/epic/gog/origin/ubisoft/emulated games. You just need to install a 32bit gnome runtime otherwise.
Code:
flatpak install flathub org.gnome.Platform.Compat.i386 org.freedesktop.Platform.GL32.default org.freedesktop.Platform.GL.default

since I never used it I couldn't say exactly, on windows it's either the program directory, somewhere in the user directory, and maybe (but unlikely) somewhere in the temp folder.
you might also have to enable it first, and/or set the level it logs certain stuff.
quick internet search says it's in the same directory as the executable, but not sure how usable it is.

unless it's disabled for a specific game because <reasons>. lost an 80% asscreed4 savegame this way.

after that I made it a habit to just include the temp folder for saves (usually somewhere in appdata or program files) in a backup.

usually it's the same game, maybe with a different exe but not different requirements (at least never heard that an epic game has something like denuvo while the steam version doesn't).

this might also be helpful just in case (you can also claim the games via the website and don't have to interact with the official launcher crapware at all):

So, I did some digging, found the log files, and though I couldn't find anything particularly labeled with some kind of specific error or failure, it did seem to be stuck on some kind of loop involving a sound file ini, titled "magicorchestra", but I can't seem to find anything about this.

Oh well.

It's up to the devs to include game saves. Wolfenstein TBO didn't have steam cloud Integration until 2020, after Microsoft bought them. Need For Speed MW 2010 does not have Integration as well.

I got monster Hunter world on the deck but it seems to bug out with the particle effects after 3-4 hunts. I lowered the graphical settings but that didn't work and can't find other solutions.

The RPCS3 discord has a bot that runs through the log files and checks if anything is wrong. I'd hate to recommend the discord but it's literally drag and drop.

Good to know, but I may not bother with it at this point since it would require some extra finagling to be able to move the file over like that and I've already kind of given up on the idea. Armored Core 4 already has a low compatibility rating anyway, so it may end up being having to do a lot of work to not be able to play a game anyway.

Honestly speaking it's a beautiful device. But the fact is the only component in this that may outperform my PC is the CPU. In my gaming PC I have a Ryzen 7 2700 while this has a newer generation CPU. I can't upgrade either because the firmware in my bios is custom by Cyberpower so I did upgrade the GPU a while back. Went from an RX580 to the RX 5600 XT, to later getting the RX 6700 XT.

Does anybody use Xbox Game Pass with their Steam Deck, is it simple to use? Do you download games or only stream them? And what's the difference with the Ultimate version?

@SSj_Ness

Game pass does not work natively on SteamOS. Your options are either to play game pass games on a windows install or stream them through the Linux Edge browser.

Game pass Ultimate is just the combo of gamepass for PC and Xbox plus Xbox live gold.

Thanks, guess it's better to wait then.
