Valve introduces Steam Deck

Official dock also comes with an extra charger, which some people believe makes it worth it.
I got the official dock since it comes with the extra charger. Buying the charger separately will end up costing an extra 30-40. It's not worth the hassle for the price difference. There's far too many docks by different brands on Amazon.

I got the 512 model, etched glass looks like a bad time for an oled, and I didn't want to pay extra just for the liner case. The liner case does look cute though.

The site was being a buggy piece of shit, and I was in the middle of doing something at work, but I somehow managed to snag one. It's a Sneedmas miracle.

I mostly just wanted it because the speakers on my OG deck have crapped out, but the better battery will be nice too because it really is atrocious on the original.

I guess I'll keep using my original for now and sell it when the OLED comes in, although I don't know who would want to buy it when the speakers are borked.

I'm interested in the original, if they hit the used market I might buy one...but as an adult I don't find handheld vidya as useful or as entertaining as a kid.

I was able to get one of the new ones
I had no clue they were even making a new one I just opened the store and saw it and saw that it had a see-through cass and I thought that was net so I got one

Brodie believes that Valve will add HDR to the OLED Deck.

How is this a thing you have to believe, they straight up say its HDR on the store page and people have run HDR games on it

Unless that video is just about Game Compositor having HDR while KDE does not, but I don't really want to watch it.

I ordered my Steam Deck oled within 20 minutes of it going online. I do not have a tracking code for it yet. Did Valve fuck up shipping? At this rate, their estimated delivery date is wrong.

It's been interesting seeing people get autistic about color accuracy. Endless internet arguments about glossy versus etched. I saw one person take extremely close photos at a pixel level to prove that there's a difference. Why are people like this for a Valve game gear system?

Warning, bit of a rant:

I rarely use this thing, cool as it is, and often when I try it seems I'm booted out of Steam (maybe it automatically does this after a period of time). Then I try to log in and it tells me my password is wrong (which I think is bullshit), so I end up making new passwords pretty often. Now it's not letting me make one, and said try again later, so I can't play games I want to.

This is why I still use my Vita more. I just pick a game and play, it never holds PSN over my head, which I haven't logged into for years at this point.

Maybe you should write your password down or something. This isn't really a Deck issue and more of just how Steam handles security. You could download the mobile app and set up two factor auth, that lets you log in with a QR code instead.

I have no clue. Switch oled released, I kept using my switch v2. The biggest selling point to me of the oled deck is the increased battery life, expanded storage options from purchase, etc. The screen isn't my first concern.

I don't either. I'm fine with my Switch oled as well. If the gloss bothers me, I will get a matte screen protector.

I recall JerryRig did a scratch test on the etched screen, it's less resistant to scratches. Nobody's being autistic about the durability.

I just wish the screen was 1080 (or well, probably 1920x1200 if they keep the aspect ratio). The 800 is just a bit weak. I get it, the panel is cheaper at 800 and more importantly, it's about half the pixels you have to drive, which impacts battery and cpu/gpu, but some shit just does not work well at 800 lines.

I'm assuming SD2 will be full hd, if AMD can figure out a power efficient way to make it happen.

The main issue with the screen would only be made worse with a higher resolution screen: UI scaling. Since it will just default to smaller sizes if there's no option for it or worse for older games when the assets have zero ability to be scaled.

I've heard people complain about their decks being packaged and sat on until yesterday or today and all of the estimated delivery dates are way off, with people reporting delivery dates on the 28th or 29th for November. Releasing it right before Thanksgiving doesn't help either.

I got mine on friday. The gloss bothers me a bit more than I thought it would, I underestimated how big the display is. Getting a matte protector for it. Could always return it for the 1tb with the anti-glare but I don't want to deal with shipping again for a supposed slight clarity improvement.

I am hearing redditors from r/steamdeck screaming in the distance about how I'm ruining the display. The people over there are too busy masturbating looking at their deck than playing it.

Otherwise I'm very impressed with it. No dead pixels, everything seems to work as intended. It's far lighter than I anticipated it would be. The directional pad is decent despite what some youtubers complained about. Pleasantly surprised by the trackpads to, I wonder if Valve will come up with a Steam Controller 2 in the future.

Nice, glad to hear you got yours in a timely manner and yeah,,I went to the steam deck reddit for the first time earlier this week and it's one giant circlejerk of poeple talking about how amazing the screen is but you can't tell because they can't take a picture to save their fucking life and copy-pasted old ass memes that were never funny. I ordered the 1tb LE with the dock that comes in on Monday, plus didn't know about the screen difference between a 512gb and 1tb so that's interesting.
