Valve introduces Steam Deck

From what it was derived from the Gamer's Nexus video, it was hinted that the Steam Machine will be priced as an "entry level" PC. I estimate it'll be in the $600-$700 range which I think would make sense because it is in that same approximate range as the Steam Deck's mid and top models.

They also can get a niche in the mini-pc market, I know there are already companies that carve out that market with extremely small form factor PCs, and Valve has the advantage here of easily getting custom SoCs from AMD to get their optimal specs for that form factor.

I would estimate another 2-3 years. Valve has already stated they would only make a new one once a generational leap was met. My interpretation of that is around double the performance at the same wattage and price. Every other handheld has to have double the battery size inside in order to match the steam decks battery life because they run their chips at double the power, not to mention them being almost double the price of the deck.

I'm guessing that the Steam Deck 2 will use an ARM CPU like the new Steam Frame.

Better battery life and less heat.
 
I don't mind having that for my living room or as a backup emergency PC. I think this is the right direction for Gaben to take: Make a cheap gaming PC that plays all the games well and acts as a console for ease of use and Plug N play.

I'm also happy that Valve is going for Microsoft's jugular especially with the xbox fumble.
 
My concern is just how powerful is this thing is going to be and the price? Like is it going to cost more than a standard PS5 but cant even play newer shit like Borderlands 4 better than a Xbox Series S? If thats the case than its gonna have some serious problems. Then there's the fact that it wont have the big multiplayer games because of anti-cheat that a lot of casuals would be looking for like CoD, BF6, and GTA Online. That is unless Valve is doing work to get EA, Activision and Rockstar to stop being faggots and just check the fucking box for their anti-cheat to work with Linux. If this thing is like 500-600 with a controller bundled and can play all the new shit at least as well as the PS5 and XSX than this thing could be a game changer for the market. Plus beating Xbox by a year on their hybrid gaming PC thing would be extra funny.

If the Series S could still be purchased for 200 or less I'd say the Gabecube would need to be 350 tops. Now I have no clue what MSRP could be but is HAS TO beat the PS5 in price or it's DOA.
