Valve introduces Steam Deck

The new controller looks goofy, but if the trackpads are anything like the ones on the Steam Deck it might be a good buy. They're a really good middle ground between thumbsticks and mouse, and made playing older pc games on them enjoyable and FPS's.

Playing things like Rimworld, Vampire Bloodline, Fallout New Vegas, and others felt good on them. I just don't know how comfortable the new controller be though, cause it looks kind of "clustered?" for a lack of a better word.

All this is is Valve making sure they have a first party chain for their main business that is Steam. You buy a Steam Deck/Steam Machine, hardware Valve manufactures and sells, that comes with SteamOS, a Linux distro that Valve develops and fine tunes for their hardware, to then install and play Steam games. Avoids reliance on Microsoft for the OS and every other hardware manufacturer to be able to use Steam in the first place. The fact that Valve is privately owned so their pursues of profit come at an actual benefit to the end consumer is just a happy little accident.

That's all well and good, but they better start making games again then. Currently the choice is between around 2-3 indie titles a year that are worth the time and aren't made by psycho trannies, or absolute triple A goyslop that's well underway with it's suicide pact.

It still doesn't concern me because no physical=no buy. If buying isn't owning piracy isn't stealing louisrossman.jpg

Still not worth paying for anything on Steam.
 
Hopefully valve releases some more vr games to go along with the new vr headset. I have a quest 2 but stopped using it after the vr gimmick wore off and I ran out of good VR games to play.

Because I got accused of hacking using steam controller one to completely negate MG32 recoil. Best memory. Also because its the first serious innovation on controller in like a decade.

Track pads aren't bad at all, they offer speed and precision. your complaint is so generic I'm assuming this is a skill issue

either adjust your hands so you don't clam grip it (you can literally let the old one rest in your palms) or just unbind the under buttons. skill issue

And let me guess, they'll be so expensive that the only people capable of buying them are Youtubers with the money for it, or people who still buy every new release of Skyrim who don't have enough brain cells to know it's a bad investment.
 
Steam Controller looks neat, but Valve pulled a Bud Light. Hopefully we can organize a boycott and get them to apologize.

I agree with most of what you said, but I will say that the Dualsense's triggers were a pretty huge innovation (I was also about to say the Joycon's HD rumble, but then I remembered it's almost been a decade since the Switch launched).

I have the Quest 3 Zeny lenses and they're pretty great. You can even clean them with normal glasses wipes, which is nice.

They are miserable to use if you're trying to use them as a replacement to conventional controller controls like a D-pad or thumbstick, which is what they were meant to be on the OG Steam Controller, alongside being mouse replacements. The new one follows the Deck in providing both conventional controller stuff and trackpads, which is an immense improvement.
 
Steam Machine only has 8GB VRAM. Considering how un-optimized the games are, they should have gone with 12. A lot of indie/AA games also take need more than 6GB even at lowest settings.

I missed out on the last Steam Controller, so I am looking forward to the new one.

Valve has said that they made Source 2 as per their own needs, and didn't consider other people using it. You can still use it, but they will not provide assistant like other engines do.
