Steam Deck fixed all the issues with the original controller and is a great system ergonomically. New controller looks like an evolution of that.Dunno why people are excited for the new steam controller.

>literal black cube Saturn worship
New Steam controller, Steam machine, and Steam VR called steam frame announced. All coming early 2026.

All this is is Valve making sure they have a first party chain for their main business that is Steam. You buy a Steam Deck/Steam Machine, hardware Valve manufactures and sells, that comes with SteamOS, a Linux distro that Valve develops and fine tunes for their hardware, to then install and play Steam games. Avoids reliance on Microsoft for the OS and every other hardware manufacturer to be able to use Steam in the first place. The fact that Valve is privately owned so their pursues of profit come at an actual benefit to the end consumer is just a happy little accident.Me thinks this could be part of Gabe's exit strategy to keep gaming from going to shit when he dies.
it won't stop the dismal tide, but the gesture is nice.
That's all well and good, but they better start making games again then. Currently the choice is between around 2-3 indie titles a year that are worth the time and aren't made by psycho trannies, or absolute triple A goyslop that's well underway with it's suicide pact.for their main business that is Steam
AlsoIt still doesn't concern me because no physical=no buy. If buying isn't owning piracy isn't stealing louisrossman.jpg

And 100 times less desktop application compatibilityBetter battery life and less heat.
Same. My rig is better that the new Steam machine. I'll probably get the controller though.I have a pretty decent rig, so I think I'll skip the Steam Machine. I might buy the controller, however.
Because I got accused of hacking using steam controller one to completely negate MG32 recoil. Best memory. Also because its the first serious innovation on controller in like a decade.Dunno why people are excited for the new steam controller.
Track pads aren't bad at all, they offer speed and precision. your complaint is so generic I'm assuming this is a skill issuebought the OG when it came out. The track pads are miserable to use,
either adjust your hands so you don't clam grip it (you can literally let the old one rest in your palms) or just unbind the under buttons. skill issueand the damn thing has buttons built into the back grip of the controller. I remember playing dark souls 1 with it and drinking my flask when I would grip too hard.
it DOES, but if the steam controller 1 was any indication, it was more about damn good ergonomics than looks. The new controller looks goofy
I'm now imagining you seeing a holographic Stallman at all times giving you snarky comments whenever you simp for windows in the Linux thread.Played so much Cyberpunk I'm starting to turn into V and developing a multiple personality disorder.
And let me guess, they'll be so expensive that the only people capable of buying them are Youtubers with the money for it, or people who still buy every new release of Skyrim who don't have enough brain cells to know it's a bad investment.

Damn, they got Demi Lovato for the ad? Wonder how much they had to pay her agency for that.Steam Controller looks neat, but Valve pulled a Bud Light. Hopefully we can organize a boycott and get them to apologize.
I agree with most of what you said, but I will say that the Dualsense's triggers were a pretty huge innovation (I was also about to say the Joycon's HD rumble, but then I remembered it's almost been a decade since the Switch launched).Because I got accused of hacking using steam controller one to completely negate MG32 recoil. I have the Quest 3 Zeny lenses and they're pretty great. You can even clean them with normal glasses wipes, which is nice.if the lenses arent too bad you can get prescription inserts i knew someone who had them.
They are miserable to use if you're trying to use them as a replacement to conventional controller controls like a D-pad or thumbstick, which is what they were meant to be on the OG Steam Controller, alongside being mouse replacements. The new one follows the Deck in providing both conventional controller stuff and trackpads, which is an immense improvement.Track pads aren't bad at all, they offer speed and precision. your complaint is so generic I'm assuming this is a skill issue
Valve has said that they made Source 2 as per their own needs, and didn't consider other people using it. You can still use it, but they will not provide assistant like other engines do.Interesting that they showcase it running godot and blender and not Source 2.
