Membrane is my favorite Invader Zim character, and i genuinely can't fuckin' stand trans headcanon shit. it's stupid, there's literally zero evidence for it, and it reduces the character to nothing but a "look how trans they are!!!!" way to earn progressive points (or get one's rocks off by drawing/writing porn). it's kind of infuriating when a genuinely good/fun character is turned into nothing but someone's means of validation or a weird self-insert for their issues.

i'm inclined to agree. i have no real issue with people shipping what they want, but some get so pushy and self-righteous about it. and i'm kind of a lore snob so if there's no evidence for a character being queer i take issue with those that state like fact "they're gay/trans/etc."

im really curious as to why theyre so dead set on the fact that they are native american? if their mom is but knows nothing about her culture, then her parents werent fully native either. im native and although it is 100 percent possible to lose contact and not know much about your background, this person doesnt know a single thing..which makes me think that their mom and even their grandparents are those annoying "we're five percent navajo<3" types of people.

I remember a post circulating twitter recently from a native woman telling white people (like VCR) to stop calling themselves "Native American" because it's a meaningless designation that is only useful in regards to living on reservations.
