Others have given their two cents on this topic, but my take has always been the reason autists and faggots that succumb to this mentality is simply because at some point, they realize without their autistic little diversions and hobbies, they're simply very boring people without much going on in their lives. Kvetching about politics and gender faggot shit makes them feel like they're special, like they "care" about something more important than their immediate interests.
Now if you're a normal person, if you ever have these pangs of feeling stagnant, you usually find a new hobby to put your time into, or develop a new routine that involves more than sitting on your ass all day. And if you really want to divert your time something "important" or "higher than yourself", for some that may involve turning to religion, which can help serve as a guideline for how you can best live the remainder of your life. But for a lot of these terminally online internet addicted autsits, doing any of that would require less time invested into their niche little interests. I mean, actually going out and finding people (maybe even of the opposite sex) to forge a lasting relationship with? No, that would mean I can't lord over my precious wiki and power trip over anyone I don't like. I'll just become a "woman", put the least amount of effort into it, and never shut the fuck up about it so anyone I don't like won't know who they're messing with! There, NOW I am a genuinely "important" person who isn't wasting my life away, right?
