Fun fact: yesterday if you played Death Standing, you will see Sam talking to virtual people who wear Santa hats.

Also, if you’re lucky, you’ll even see Sam wear one as well, with the appropriate outfit:

As corny as it looks, I’m still a sucker for things like this. It reminds me of the cheat codes where you get to change the time on your console to a famous holiday like Christmas, and the environment surrounding you will have snowy weather.

I agree, little easter (or Christmas) eggs like that in games go a long way to making the game feel more polished or at least give the feeling that the developers gave a shit.

I love shit like that! Now I'm kinda mad that I haven't downloaded Death Stranding on my PS5 yet.

I've just been playing Horizon Zero Dawn lately. I finally got into it after years of going "oh that looks so good, I should try it someday" and it turns out I was right, it is really good. Better late than never!

I've always had trouble with dark souls, so today I just decided to run through DS3 as fast as I can avoiding all non-essential enemies and going straight to the boss. I made a cleric for heal spells and speed and beat both bosses on the first try.

Am I a retard who has been playing the games wrong all this time? I usually get caught up trying to clear levels and get all the loot, but this time I didn't have any issue fighting Vordt with my shitty armour, starter mace and pine resin. I didn't even need any flasks for fighting him, which is good because I accidentlaly used them all up in the first 2 seconds (I'd just been playing Nioh 2 and the controls are different). I'm glad to be out of the first few levels, since I really dislike High wall of Lothric. Imo the first levels in Dark souls 1 and 3 are the worst, but I think it's just because I'm sick of figthing undead.

Fuck region locking and everything involved in it.

This is stupid, but I need to rant: so I got a game sent to me and decided to get the dlc for it. Turns out the game is region locked to Europe and the dlc was American, so I can’t access the dlc or get a refund. But fuck it, it’s only like $15. I’ll just get a UK PSN card online and buy it like that.

But anywhere I try and buy a DIGITAL CODE for a PSN card won’t let me buy it without a uk address or phone number. And when I find someone to let me use their number and try and pay via PayPal(as it says it allows), the payment won’t go through either!

So to repeat: fuck region locking and everything involved in it.

that's strange, there are plenty of sites who don't care where you're from to buy a psn code, at least used to. after all it's just a bunch of numbers like every other cdkey and it's up to you what you do with it.
this is also mostly a playstation issue where the dlc is coded to the disc, because for some retarded reason the dlc is apparently different, never mind it's already separated via local store (which you can't change either). enjoy your asia imports.

What's the better metroidvania? Axiom Verge or Bloodstained? Both are on sale on steam.

Out of the four sites recommended to me, one wanted an address, one wanted a phone number, one immediately canceled and refunded the transaction, and one wouldn’t even allow me to buy it because “you are not in the correct geological area”. If you can suggest a site to try, though, I would greatly appreciate it.

I think Axiom Verge is the stronger one overall and it sits closer to the Metroid series. Bloodstained is still good though and plays fine but in general the environments weren't as intriguing as in Axiom Verge(it had some really good music that helped with that).

You have to use actual cards for that, and this goes for every single console. Try buying them off of sites like Playasia and they might give you the digital code themselves.

All DLC has to be of the same region as the base game, it's mostly due to how the serial numbers line up. A game in the UK doesn't have the same serial as the same game in the US. However this doesn't stop a US account from using a game that originates from Canada since they still use the ESRB and therefore can buy the DLC in the US store and it will work with the Canadian version of the game. IIRC I think PEGI is still in most major european countries so pick somewhere like France or Germany if you can't nab a UK card. AUS and NZ might still be considered under the European banner as well.

Most people set up dummy accounts that claim to be Hong Kong because they're less restrictive when it comes to tax and have a bit more variety. But the good news is, once your foreign account has downloaded the DLC other accounts from other regions have access to them on the same system unless they're avatars.

I don't know if it's changed in the last few years, but I have two PSN accounts in two different countries and I put credit on the account I don't live in the country of just by buying wallet codes from some really shady random site out there.

But yeah, definitely agree. Shit sucks.

Is Spyro Reignited Trilogy worth $14 for someone that never played the series before?
Depends, I guess.

The original PS1 versions are better by quite a bit, but if you don't have a convenient way to play them then the Reignited Trilogy is fine as a compromise.

I'd recommend playing the games on official PS1 hardware and a CRT if you have the money or materials already on hand to make it happen. Playing it on a PS2 on a CRT is also fine, as is a PS3 on an HDTV. If nothing else, emulating it with RetroArch's Beetle PSX core or DuckStation using the most console-accurate settings possible works and is still better than the Reignited Trilogy.

If you end up taking the original hardware route, make sure you've got good quality cables for best results.

I'm going to echo Scanline's sentiments here, I'd only buy the Reignited Trilogy if you had to have achievements or some reason like that idk. I know its a meme but the remake looks soulless compared to the original. You can get a modded ps1 that plays burnt games or if you don't want to bother going that path just play on duckstation.

address and phone number can be fraud prevention, depending on your type of payment (and if you're worried about your data, if you pay with paypal for example they get those anyway. not sure abou CC).
might also depend if you have and account and your purchase history, I never got those.

and depending on the game might still be more valuable to buy the pc version (if it exists) on sale with everything included than deal with PSN and their walled garden.

If you're gonna go as far as getting a modded PS1, don't even bother with the modchip for burned games and get a full XStation setup so you can just load shit onto an SD card and go to town.

Is the DLC for Yakuza, like a Dragon, all cosmetic and cheat stuff?

Is there also anything I need to know from the rest of the franchise? This will be the first time I've played anything in it.

All but one. The Job one gives you two extra jobs, one for men and one for women. You won't be able to use either until roughly 30 hours into the game at the very earliest, as they're treated as the last unlockable jobs for whatever reason. They've gone on sale for like $3 before, so I'd say just hold off until you actually get that far into the game and see if you still care enough to wait for another sale.

Not really. It's a very accessible game without knowing much about the series. You just won't get as much out of a few scenes where they bring back some old characters.

Like a Dragon was my first Yakuza game, and it's hooked me on the series. It is one of the best games I have ever played.
