What's wrong with that? Maybe somebody just wants action in its purest form. Not everything has to be elaborate.
And therein my issue with where DW: Origins took the genre - streamer bait, ragebait, ebin git gud esque boss fights, iframes, mid-animation dodging, a complete boss rush. I know DW has always been about running around removing officers from the field, but the first many pop-ups in DW:O are like "you want to help your allies and sweep up big red areas on the map", but units literally disappear once their officer is dead, so you gain nothing from killing pawns as opposed to rushing around between the officers. Once you pick up the 'combos' for your favorite weapon, rinse-repeat for 60 hours. Then Lu Bu gatekeeps you from the rest of the game, but he's not a skill check as much as a damage sponge.

My interest in that IP lives or dies with the DW3 remaster. It'll have the clunkiness of DW3 but a few QoL changes from DW:O like summoning your mount and dashing, though I recall DW3 locking you into your attack animations like Monster Hunter, making each attack deliberate. If you can dodge out of those like in DW:O, it'll feel so modern and shitty. Also, I've noticed there's so much fujo/BL shit in that whole wuxian part of modern media. Women soaking themselves over chinese vtubers wearing period clothing, it's so fucking weird. I mean, DW is full of femboys but still, it surprised me.

If you thought the fujo shit by Western fans is insane, then you should take a look at Chinese fujos. Apparently, they are numerous and crazy enough to the point that China is attempting to rectify that by banning certain types of romance media, specifically the CEO romance plots and people who write BL erotica, and is also trying to crackdown on flaunting wealth and showcasing power:

The CCP's backhanded handling of things does work sometimes, i.e. their recent bans on non-physical car door handles and enforcing more physical controls inside cars, but most of the time, those bans end up looking stupid and don't fix the issues of why people in China feel so miserable to the point of needing to go to routes like fujo shit for escapism.

I'm so hyped. Another 1000 hours of my life down the drain just judging by this trailer. I hope i manage to not burn out before the full release, maybe i am actually disciplined enough to just pirate the EA and give it a test run and put it away until 1.0 (🌈).
I would just like to announce that I am a stupid fucking retard with no rhythm whatsoever.
2 hours of my life was just spent playing Gitaroo Man for the first time, I couldn't make it past the 2nd level.
Me with Donkey Konga. Bought the game plus two Konga sets for cheap on Lik Sang back in the days, spent a week trying to git gud, had around 65% accuracy on the more difficult tracks. Had a non-vidya playing friend over on the weekend, he 99%ed every single track we played against each other. I also struggled to beat the first level of Parappa the Rapper. Kick, Punch, it's all in the go fuck yourself. The only rhythm-based stuff i don't suck absolute ass on is Karaoke in the Yakuza games and Haruka's chapters in Yakuza 5.

The Dynasty Warriors games were actually well received by fans, but people tend to dismiss them because the gameplay is pretty brainless compared to other game genres. And 3 was considered to be one of the best of the series due to its difficulty, it was the first one to sell a million copies, and Koei Tecmo will be releasing a remaster of 3 this year.
There's no checkpoints for stages. What about the gear and XP I've gained? Is that lost if I die too? And I'm playing on Normal difficulty on 8.

I grew up with Pirates of the Caribbean: at world's end on the PSP, a pretty good hack and slash game, but I didn't know there were 3 games in total and they all have PC ports. Time to open up pcgamingwiki and see if I can get the DS4 controller working.

I'm in the mood for some pirate games and I'm going to try out that god of war clone that was in development for over a decade and a half, Captain Blood.

Dynasty Warriors 8 is a high point for the series but is also quite easy unless you go out of your way looking for difficulty, the chances of you die are pretty low. The only way you might conceivably lose a mission is if you get distracted clearing the map and fail some sort of escort/protection objective. To answer your question though, you do lose everything if you somehow manage to die.

It wasn’t in development for a decade and a half.

It was finished, the publisher went under, so it sat complete but unreleased for 15 years.

Anyone got an opinion on john carpenter's toxic commando?

I remember that john carpenter co-wrote FEAR 3 and did the cutscenes. FEAR 3 was ok, but it's clear carpenter had no original ideas and was copying popular trends.

Toxic Commando looks like more trend chasing even it's being developed by Saber Interactive (the space marine 2 devs) and I'm getting Back 4 Blood vibes. Nobody ever learns anything.

This nigger needs to stick to movies/tv shows, but he does remind me of how fucking good L4D2 is like Crowbcat's video shitting on B4B did back in the day and made me want to play the fuck out of it so that's something I guess.

I'm going to do some nigger speech. Imagine if they took their previous game, WWZ and took the better ideas from B4B and made it work. There is no retarded card system, you get skill trees for each of the 4 classes. There is scrap but it's used to get what power weapons, repair vehicles, complete objectives, set up defenses, and repair your vehicles. Weapons do have attachments, but you get full control over what goes on it, at least from what i've experienced so far. So you don't have to worry about getting that AA-12 only to find it has a broken 8x on the fuckin' thing. There's this contanimation system which unlike B4B's trauma system, doesn't negatively impact you unless you're jumping in and out of it which spawns the Roamers or if you sit in it for to long you start taking chunks of damage. I'd also like to throw in a comparison to the Outbreak gamemode from CoD Cold War, where you are given complete control on if you want to hit all the side objectives and get kitted out before taking on the main objective or just bum rushing it. Overall I found it to be enjoyable and this might be the next game I pick up. The demo is currently free until March 2nd so if you can/want to maybe give it a go. Forgot to mention, you can't control your FoV.
