Kind of excited to play Shenmue on the Dreamcast this Thanksgiving. It’s been almost two years since I’ve played it so I have to now remember where I was the last time I played it.

This year was so barren for games I had to resort to typing in "hentai" and picking random games in order to fill out the Steam Awards.
Well, with me, I have to resort to buying Chinese handheld consoles/gaming systems with emulators on them. There’s no way I’m possibly buying another high tech new age system in this economy.

This one so far looks pretty reasonable to play with:

Not getting it on Amazon, but you get the idea.

One of the requirements for being a social media manager is being an antis-social, terminally online retard.
I thought they were all women that hates the customers and their employer because they're supposedly dudebros. Instead of doing their job they wage a war against an imaginary enemy and their employers are too afraid to tell them to not bite the hand that feeds them.

I noticed Vampire Survivors hit game pass, and I'm really struggling to understand the appeal. I either die in two minutes because nothing good dropped, or I become ludicrously overpowered and spend thirty minutes waiting for the reaper to kill me.

I dunno. Just can't get a handle on it.
Its a relaxing time killer, just a bit more complicated cookie-clicker.

I was on a Castlevania binge and decided to pick up Portrait of Ruin since it was the only DS one I didn't have. I knew going in the used market is fucked but goddamn, $80 for cib is nuts. Glad it was the only one I was missing and not Dawn or Ecclesia because their prices are way worse.

About 75% of the way through Mafia 3 and while there are story beats I enjoy it's such a buggy and repetitive mess I can't wait for it to be over.

there were a few, but all of them indie, so hardly the stuff that would make it into a popularity contest anyway.

I get collecting, but honestly if it's about playing the game (even on original hardware) I just grab the rom and be done with it. it's not like konami or nintendo even notice a secondhand-sale, so it's not even "voting with your wallet" to show there's demand for it.

I mostly agree, only reason I went in is it will probably hold its value or be able to make an extra $20-30 later on off it.

Can't you get all of these on Steam now and have them run and look better?

I wish, DS games never got ported. I think its too much effort for modern Konami to make a collection of them, even if they outsource the project like they did the other two. They still haven't released the Rondo/SotN bundle on PC either and that's been out for years.

Yeah, way too much effort. That TMNT Cowabunga Collection that came out earlier in the year only had games that've been easy to emulate for like 20 years, despite there being TMNT games on Gamecube. It's Konami, any kind of compilation they make will only use games from systems where they can slap the roms into open source emulators and call it a day.

DS games would have to be reworked enough to where they may as well call them remasters, so I doubt we'll see rereleases of those for a long time, if ever. Even Nintendo doesn't rerelease/remake their own DS & 3DS games. That being said, it's easy to hack both the DSi and 3DS these days, and just run games from your SD card.

Future of gaming doesnt look very good for the western market. Not a single western game next year looks interesting to me. They just look gay and cringe. But there are games next year that I'm looking forward to:
-Black Myth: Wukong
-Where Winds Meet
-Wo long: Fallen Dynasty
-Stellar Blade
-Lollipop Chainsaw RE
-Resident Evil 4
-Like A Dragon: Inshin!
-Legened Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Some of them are Chinese which is interesting to me. And one of them is Korean (Stellar Blade) and the rest are Japanese (Unsurprisingly) Thank god for Asia not shoving in Woke shit unlike the west. I can care less about Starfield or Forspoken.

Sole "western game" that I'm looking forward is Metal Slug Tactics (developed by mainland frenchies) which is supposedly coming out next year.
Otherwise, my 2023 list (aka things I really want to play) consists so far of:
-Buccanyar
-R-Type Tactics 1+2 Cosmos
-Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse
-Pikmin 4
Certainly more things will be more announced in the ongoing year.
