You guys should give nazi zombies portable a try, it's a fun and free game that's open source. it's a ps1 style remake of the nazi zombies game mode from cod (think waw to black ops era) with lots of custom maps. It'll even run on a psp so it's actually optimized.

Is anyone else sick of the "first person simulator" genre? I was thinking "man, a real good hotel simulator could be good", you start out with something like a motel, can build rooms and have them replicate across the area, hire staff, build a restaurant and club, and eventually you could have a resort or a business center-focused place. But then I go to Steam and it's like "stock the minibar" grudgery. The same thing that ruined Waterpark Simulator for me, if it didn't have a host of other problems.
The entire trend hurts both good and bad games. Gas Station Simulator was one of the first big 'real' good games of the genre - immediately followed by HIJAB FRUIT STALL SIMULATOR times 500. Then good ones like water park simulator shows up, probably losing out on money and playtime from it having a dogshit name, but now we all know what simulator entails. If they had named the game "Water Park Fantastico" it'd somehow be discarded even faster.

CyberConnect2 just put out a trailer for a new .hack game.

I noticed Aurora and what are either original quadrilogy characters, or at least new characters that share the original design and theming a la Legend of the Twilight Bracelet. I'm guessing it will be a prequel to the original games or take place between them and the Recode games. I'd be stoked to have Kite, Balmung, and Blackrose back. Regardless, I'm fucking hyped.

Hopefully they don't fuck it up. I'd honestly take remakes or remasters of the original 4 games for PC too.

Maybe that'll be coming down the pipe soon. As stiff and kind of janky the gameplay was in the original games, it has a certain charm to it and it works. I tried to get into the GU games, but the characters and story didn't grab me the same way as the originals (I know technically Haseo was in the original quadrilogy, but I digress). I also didn't care for how they scaled back the overworlds. It would be nice to get a remaster of the original games complete with visually cleaner versions of the included OVAs. Emulators are just about the only viable way to experience them since prices for the physical versions get more retarded annually.

Yeah well WPS suffers the same issues as some of the others. I dropped it as soon it was "GO GET THE HOT DOGS FROM ACROSS THE STREET" all the while people are leaving the line from waiting too long, ambulances are being called for water puddles, and then you can only carry like three hot dogs anyway.

If you can't fulfill at least one of the three criteria I wanted (in no particular order) it's a harder sell.
- can I reasonably recreate Splashtown Houston circa 1999
- can I make a bunch of dangerous rides that kill my guests
- are the female lifeguards hot and can I use the in-game camera to perv on them

When it comes to hotel sims in particular, they give off the cheap Made In India like appearance (this one uses commas in the dollar amount, among other quirks, but Indians should be the first to know how the hospitality industry actually works since they're so prevalent. But it's not just that particular game, every single one of them is like that. Worse, it's not even the viewpoint that's the issue, it's how the game is played.

If I have to pick up trash, the game is trash. Simple as.

Soydevs will post smug shit like this and then start screaming and smearing shit on the walls when no one consooms product.

God, MGSV is such a well made game. The engine is fantastic, all the mechanics are well implemented, the story is interesting. It's a shame it wasn't quite finished and he left. Death Stranding is such a slog, I guess he needed the company to reign him in a bit but it's a shame we're not going to get any more Metal Gear stuff. It would have been cool if they did another and focused a bit more on base infiltration in the style of Ground Zeroes.

Original game. They're rebooting the series.

I played Vampire Survivors on Steam until the wee hours of the night, and I was surprised at how good but addictive the game is. It reminds me of when I first played Team Fortress 2 for the first time.
Try "Halls of Torment" for similar "shitty retro graphics" esthetics but slighlty more involved gameplay / progression.

With all the hype for it I'm tempted to play Clair Obscur. Before I do, I've kind of absorbed through just being present online that the story does a big gotcha partway through that changes everything. From what I gather it pulls the same sort of thing that Star Ocean 3 did way back when. Is that the case, and how stupid is it?

The "twist" is very similar to Final Fantasy X. I did end up enjoying it but I feel like it's a better experience for normies.

As a long time JRPG fanatic I couldn't help but feel it was inferior to the two games it was clearly inspired by namely FFX and Shadow Hearts.

In my humble autistic opinion it's in the "it's good but" category.

Just beat Romeo is a Dead Man. I enjoyed most of it, but the last chapter and ending were really, REALLY awful. It put me in a bad mood for a while.
The game isn't bad but really needs some polish with patches.
