I finished Forbidden Siren (2003) a couple days ago on the PCSX2. Man, I remember renting this game back when it came out and the repetitive nature of revisiting the levels didn't allow me to beat the game at the time but I did get to Day 2 before I couldn't finish it. Now though, completing the game, it was quite a ride. Horror games in general don't scare me and rarely disturb me but there's something about the game's vibe and atmosphere that really left me with a good impression, the game's soundtrack and fucked up story made me feel actually disturbed for once, especially in a long time. Its kinda sad though that the main characters don't make it out of the shibito world and the implication that they're stuck in a time distorted world in which they're doomed to repeat over and over again really gives you a shit feeling, most games now a days would usually give some sort of feel good moment or at least elevate the world ending event for everyone to deal with but in this one, it's just the main characters and a small group of victims that are doomed into this hell while the the rest of the world just wonders on, shit's fucked up.

Siren is my favorite horror game and I've played a lot of them. What's funny is that I bought it because of the box art. I had no idea what I was in for and after I finished it I felt drained like I had gone through some stressful event. My first playthrough took forever because I didn't have a guide, though the game manual has some important clues for some of the more baffling puzzles.

So it's discounted on Steam at the moment, and I am tempted to buy it, but I have some questions:
If you have buddies to play with you it'll be significantly better than solo, its just so boring and annoying solo, especially the medicine system, yea it's complex but not good. Plus I don't see sense in failing all your taken quests and putting them on timeout in a game where you can die from a single well placed shoot from 300-400 meters away, even in the "chill PVE mode". Enemies tanking 20 rounds of 5.56 AP with level 1 armour also fucks with me, along with the prices, they're ridiculous it's like Im bargaining with a fudd.
The game had chances being set in a tropical place but, as it is with games that use PMCs, it comes across as so detached and soulless and "modern" its not cool at all, they should've set the game in congo 64 or something, but thats more of a personal nitpick.

There's a Gothic Remake coming out and it's an unoptimized UE5 slop, made by a no-name company, with numerous red flags seen on preview copies given to streamers. Everyone's shilling for it, from said streamers to their viewers. Any flaw is justified, either by being a quirk, "devs wll fix it within those 2 weeks" or "who cares, original wasn't perfect either".

Just look at its requirements and screenshots:
It all screams "generic UE5 slop".

Feels like I'm the only who's seeing through the bullshit since the non-faggy communities I visit don't even know or care that this game is coming out. So all people who are left are normies who only care about hearing the same voice lines they heard 20 years ago and everything else around it doesn't matter. This is like Oblivion and its UE5 remake where the average consoomer just played few hours then threw it in a trash and forgot about it. I hate the "modern audiences" so much. Just treating games that lasted decades like slop, being turned into equivalent of a mcdonalds burger. To be consoomed and forgotten the next day.

A fucking 3070 and 12 gigs VRAM?

Yea sure a 3070 isn't a top of the line card anymore fair enough but the screenshots just look like Skyrim.

The reqs should not be that fucking high.

Ignore the remake, they went out of their way to make the female characters ugly.
Apparently the remake doesn't even look or feel like the demo that was released a couple of years ago. It's worse.

The reason should not be that fucking high.
All those streamers who received preview copies have ultra expensive PCs and they STILL get issues like stutters and texture popping. And I wouldn't mind high recommended specs to make the game look good if minimum specs were acceptable. It's all just very lazy "let's try to make the game look as photorealistic as we can by slapping as many effects as possible" as that's all the normies look at. They even made reddit bait such as the fact that wolves can now piss for some reason. So they took time out of refining other mechanics that badly required attention to add such irrelevant details.

They went back on the female models. Though there's way more stuff wrong with it that cannot be fixed even by mods as the issues run too deep.

I've finished my Skadovsk fortress build in Stalker Gamma. If you don't deck that boat out in defensive walls the enemy will constantly storm it and try to kill everyone.

I also made the interior a little prettier of course:

My Xbox One X was showing possible signs that the GPU or HDMI Out was failing, and after a bunch of soft resets it was still fucked up, so I went out and bought a used One S, because I'd heard the X has a thermal issue.

Setting up my compatible 360 and Xbox games on the S, it suddenly stops recognizing game discs. It recognizes movies on DVD and Blu just fine, don't know how it handles One games, as I have none on disc. Multiple resets, soft and factory, the best it'll do is recognize one single game disc, then go back to just doing the registration read when I pop in a game disc, but not bring up the installer or change the icon on an installed disc game from the warning sign to the disc icon.

I do a factory reset on the X and don't have it transfer settings, suddenly the X works fine again now.

I spent $100 for a One S that I didn't need, apparently. At least the seller bundled it with a decent Acer PC monitor and a controller. I am looking at it as the S being a $20 add-on for the other items and will just use it for movies and digital games unless someone has encountered that problem and found a fix.

@Tap Water Enjoyer @Jace on ice @Miller
I found a game that might interest you guys.

I didn't know what Drova was, because I bought it ages ago before it had reviews and an Accolades Trailer and shit, so I was VERY surprised to boot it up 2 days ago and find out it's basically 2D Gothic.

I'm not a well-informed Gothic Enjoyer myself, so I can't tell you how good it is compared to Gothic, but the inspirations are very fucking obvious (Faction camps, having to get training to be an acceptable fighter with any weapon type, 'combo timing', an NPC who teaches you how to get more from hunted animals, etc). Not to say it's just a wholesale ripoff though, because it does do its own shit too.

I can at least say that it sucked me in to playing it for 2 hours straight on my first sitting, and very few games grab me like that. It does tutorialize and explain things a bit more than Gothic, but the gameplay is still very punishing, and it has a lot of good gameplay friction.

However, even as someone who generally doesn't give a shit, I will say I can't ignore how many fucking characters in this game based on nordic myth look african or jeet. I could probably come up with a reasonable story excuse for why, but let's be real, it's current year and we all know why there's "Body Type 1 or 2" and tons of browns in a Viking Promised Land where the divine nordic nature spirits hand-pick the chosen people who get to go there.

whenever i finish a game, i almost see no reason to start up another playthrough of it unless its something easily replayable like say inscryption or vampire survivors since i kinda just move onto another thing once im done.
I won't play anything once if I can't see myself beating it at least three times and I also refuse to play anything more than like two hours long

This is why shit like Crimson Desert and Witcher 3 has no replayability. Hell, Elden Ring. You can respec or unlock every single ability in one playthrough. Dark Souls, it's like "oh this shitty corridor again, but now I'm a mage. Wonder how that'll affect it". ER? You've already taken another path 5 mins into the game. You can't compare or relate the content to anything.

"Nooo bro! You're not meant to get tired of a life-defining hobby! Games haven't stooped in quality and you're meant to heckin love gaming for decades to come!". Literally look up Sims or Stardew; you'll have addicted women echoing the sentiment: "I make a whole family, build a house and don't touch it for another 3 months". Gaming has gotten stale and I think it's because we've ripped a lot of features out of the games and put them into clients, ie. Discord, matchmaking, reddit etc. Skyrim modding? You mean taking pics and posting them across social media?
Not every game needs to be endlessly replayable.
