Video games you are looking forward to in 2023 - Is there anything to be excited by?

Armored Core 6 and DaemonXMachina: Titanic Scion. I'm hoping the former draws attention to the latter. Armored Core has always had a niche yet dedicated fanbase, and now that From has drawn in the normies with the Souls games, maybe the mecha genre will pick up steam again. Having more good mech games is never a bad thing.

For anyone who hasn't played DaemonXMachina, it plays like a streamlined Armored Core game with the mission structure of a Monster Hunter game. The plot is mid to non-existent and most of the characters are very tropey, but the gameplay is solid and the customization is deep enough to enjoy the different options available.

I unfortunately discovered the game late into its life cycle, so I haven't been able to enjoy the co-op and PvP to the extent that I'd like, but there's a small Discord where people still host Friday night fight tourneys and run co-op content. I'm excited to see what all improvements are made in the sequel.

Already got my first "really want to play" game of the year with Trals into Reverie. Aside from that Armored Core 6 (which I'm still kind of amazed how cagey they are with generating hype for it) and... that's about it for releases this year. I would like to give Project Raincode a go since I had my fun with Danganronpa, but not a day 1 thing and I'm probably forgetting about something else, but it's likely not that big of a deal anyway.

I'm still looking forward to Baldur's Gate III, DoS2 is one of my favourite games.

Tempest Rising, I didn't want to hype myself and stay cautious, but at current moment there is simply no other game that could potentially fill the gap, I never really liked the AoE game formula, so this is the closest thing that comes to giving me the classic rts fix that I desperately need.

I fully agree with you when you say that there is nothing like it cause honestly the C&C RTS games just died out, barley anything on the market now for anything stylish as that kind of base building and asthetic. Just like you with Tempest Rising, I dont wanna hype myself up on D.O.R.F. which to me looks like my childhood due to its Red Alert 2 look and feel.

I honestly hope both Tempest Rising and DORF are good enough to fill that classic RTS feel as you mentioned.

I also want to be cauticiously optimistic about D.O.R.F. It definitely has some good visual style, unfortunately previews make it clear that it's made on OpenRA engine and while it does seem to be very flexible when it comes to modding and a good fit for independent development I never really liked the gamefeel that anything that was made using it had.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection.

I was looking forward to the possibly of MK12 being non normie Twitch Injustice vomit, but that ship has sailed.
