Video speed and buffering optimisations

This is way better than the old native player.

Only complaint is that the progress bar covers up the video because it's pushed up by the logo. If you put the logo in the top toolbar or above the progress bar I think it'd look better. Also, the fullscreen controls are perfect if you could force those on when not fullscreened.

The player seems to struggle on this one, couldn't get it to play even with 230mb/s download speed. When I quote this in the reply it seems to use the old player in the draft, which is able to play it instantly.

Edit: By "struggle", I mean that the video is only a black screen and the time displayed for the video doesn't increase. I'm using Firefox on Linux, haven't tested on Chromium.

It is failing because there is a codec mismatch. I am trying to figure out why h264 360p and opus cannot play together. I figured that since they're just arbitrary fucking streams it should work but apparently I'm a dumb fag.

If you wanted to maximize compatibility for phoneniggers and whatnot I would suggest providing em a classic mp4 option (h264+aac)

Opus is best but not everything can handle it tbh properly

Also the killstream plays for me idk if you changed the streams already though

It's working very well for me so far.

I noticed that clicking the play-pause button or using the spacebar is immediate, but clicking the video outside that button does the same thing but has a short lag, maybe 100 ms.

I’m loving the new player so far, not had any trouble worth bothering about. It also seems to solves issues with various upload formats, so anyone can watch anything, regardless of what type of device is being used. So far pretty damn good.

ETA: The download addition is sweet

Skipping from 2 minutes to 4 hours into the Killstream VOD and it's buffered and playing uninterrupted within 5 seconds, very nice.
Is this just a player upgrade, or is it part of the media transcoding server project mentioned on MATI a few weeks back? Either way it's much more tolerable on a shit connection.
