So, internet funny man, VideoGameDunkey made a video making fun of video game journalists/reviewers.


Now, any average everyday internet autist would go, "Hey, it's a video from some random Youtuber. Okay."

But game developers are not your average everyday internet autist. They're advanced average everyday internet autists with an even bigger ego than your average everyday internet autist.

Twitter quickly became a SALT STORM of epic proportions.

It wasn't like he was even going after individual games journalists as he was more going after the platform as his big criticism seems to be that the score seemed to be removed from the individuals reviewing them and how they will allow certain critics who have biases against certain genres to review them. Even a cow MovieBob got in on that Dunkey action
 
I don't know who any of these people are, but I think we can all agree that "The Irate Gamer was more famous than you." is probably one of the worst insults you can give someone in the "review" community.

I don't understand why they think people's character should be up to standard, but not the game reviews that they are being paid to write.
 
And this is supposed to be a thing because.... I'll admit that I never heard of the situation till now, and from all the tweets you'd think he said that Trump wasn't literally Hitler or something. Is it really THIS easy to offend these autists?
 
It must hurt game journalists when they get critiqued by someone with a bigger consistent audience than all of their sites combined

The great part about this is that Dunkey isn't really saying anything that anyone hasn't said already. Rating system is fucked, journalists seem to rush their playthroughs of the game, reviews are filled with buzzwords -- most people know that already.

To say nothing about how some journos and gaffots are trying to connect Dunkey to the alt-right; dude almost never tweets and his videos are borderline absurdist. The fact that Dunkey made a response clarifying his vid and listed journalists who he thought made good points in their critique of his video just makes them look even worse on that front.

All this salt mine just did was further show that game journos know that their field is rapidly becoming irrelevant and that they're insecure that people are more willing to watch youtube reviewers they're familiar with than read something on IGN/Gamespot/Kotaku/Destructoid/whatever.

Also this seems to be kind of a cycle. People call journos out on their shitty behaviour, journos react with shitty behaviour (attacking the person who spoke out against them, misrepresenting their points, straight out lying instead of engaging in an honest discussion) and it just repeats. Instead of stopping the shit that got them called out in the first place, they think they can just shut everyone up and continue as they please. They're so salty because they have absolutely no sway over a Youtuber with millions of followers.
