  • 🐕 Maintenace complete. Database is on a new RAID. Everything should load faster. Will optimize more over time.
Anyone else noticing how much Vinny is biting the bait lately with "mean" chat comments? It happened pretty badly in the 2nd to last Age of Calamity stream about him getting free stuff from Rockstar Games + getting a free Nvidia graphics card, and it happened again in the most recent Cyberpunk and Final Fantasy VI streams. I don't know if either he's intentionally trying to find criticism in the chat so that he can make some dumbass snarky response, or if he's just unlucky with the chat comments he finds recently. Hopefully I'm not reading too deep with his replies, but the amount of times he's responded to a comment that sounds like mild criticism/bait a little too defensively seems odd imo.

With DMCA threats of jail getting worse and twitch banning "simp" "virgin" and "incel" Joel and Vinny's time on twitch might get less and less? But will Joel even move?

I can't picture Joel moving to Youtube like Vinny, but modding wise won't chat be worse on youtube?

I agree with Vinny that they could've gone a lot further, but at that point you're just making another Zelda game instead of a Warriors game.

Youtube simply doesn't have the protections in place for a full-time streamer the way that Twitch does. Like you said, modding would be near-impossible on Youtube sans removing the chat function entirely, and Youtube is just not meant for live streams and doesn't have the formatting to support a frequent streamer like Joel and Vinny. I don't know what they'll do from here, in all honesty, but for now it seems likely that they're probably going to have to stay where they are and just try to play it closer to the vest. But I'm sure Vinny's suspension was a bit of a wake-up call for many similar content creators; Vinny is about as general as general appeal gets (not that he's generic, but that his sense of humor is enjoyable for a fairly wide range of people), so if he can get suspended - even for a short while - for something that stupid, it pretty much means that anyone is fair game. So I'm sure there are quite a few streamers shopping for a way out right now.

Vinny said he gave Death Stranding an honest shot on the Dec. 16th FF6 stream. I don't think spending the entire first stream of it making fun of it and the second stream saying how bored he is and trying to glitch the game counts as an honest shot but IDK. I didn't care for the game either but I don't know why Vinny can't just say he didn't like the game. At the end of the day he's just internet funny man.

I'm getting real tired of the "X game company is THE WORST and here is my 50 page essay about it" posts from people who were all on board for the company in question's game right until it launched. Especially if there were noticeable cracks in the wall beforehand.

I think the Skyrim comparison is very apt. It's buggy, lacks polish, and didn't quite live up to expectations - but its still a heck of a lot of fun to play once you accept it for what it is. I won't completely excuse CDPR for how poorly optimized the last-gen versions of the game are, because they really are quite nasty. But the level of outcry has been ridiculous. Of all the buggy, not quite complete games made with crunch to make an example out of, this is the straw that broke the camels back? I hope this pushes AAA game companies to produce more finished products going forward, but I doubt that happens as a result of all this.

Side note: I think Vinny's Skyrim on Switch streams are among my favorite streams of his. The amount of hilarious glitches he came across per stream was astounding. The game being a glitched-out mess made it an unforgettable experience.
