I don't think I can watch Vinny anymore; I haven't been able to watch a stream of his besides the occasional collab or corruption vod. I can't really pinpoint it; he's just overall not entertaining. The game choices suck, his gameplay sucks, the "jokes" aren't funny, and he's constantly walking on eggshells. I genuinely don't understand how people can still watch him anymore.

I tried to figure out what it was that was appealing when he first started and what he lost. And I think the answer is "relatability." He was never a larger-than-life character like Jerma, and he was never that great at video games.

He was just a guy who said whatever was on his mind. Rarely ever trying to intentionally be funny or intentionally create a "meme" or "bit." But he's lost that; everything is filtered now. He's not "Vinny" the person anymore; he's "Vinny" the personality. He's the "Star Trek," "RLM," "90s," "Nintendo," "Speen" guy. There are no personal thoughts or feelings, just vague opinions.

I can't blame him because of the way fans are now as well as the overall environment for content creators. He's the McDonald's of streamers: always there with the same flavor, occasionally palatable.

Joel has always been the superior streamer anyway.
He was into the earlier windows destruction days. Now? I prefer him less than vin. Vinny can still turn out something like the detective pikachu corruption stream, though it is mostly funny due to the work of whomever made the corruption it's generally a better stream than what joel puts together anymore.

You'll hate this next bit then:
For context: The topic was if he'd retire, which starts at 2:29:08
But I feel you. He's well past the point of Flanderizing himself by embracing meme culture when past Vinny scorned running them into the ground by spouting them constantly while still self-awareness of being an ironic memer. After the Tommy Wiseau trend, it was downhill from there. I've come to a point where I'll take breaks from watching him until he plays something that interests me since his commentary and sometimes gameplay, s'been pretty dull or forced.

He's had some relatively OK streams last year where he's more reserved and sentimental (Wii Sports Resort, Sail Forth and M+R Sparks of Hope) and depending on the game and people, he's a lot more entertaining during multiplayer games, like with his mods.
It's interesting that you mention that he's walking on eggshells, because in the Sail Forth stream, he said he's not going to explain himself to people that reprimand his humor and that they can go elsewhere if they don't like it and I thought:

"When was there a situation, post the Zoo Race, where that's been the case, Vinny? Does he just mean in general?"

It's a good mindset to have, especially these days, but his jokes are either cushioned or forced now and rarely go beyond spelling "Cunny" on Wordle, which is tame compared to past Vinny. The only time he ever explains himself is over petty online spats or defending his tastes/hypocrisy: Not liking Death Stranding, someone complaining about his bemoaning with tinnitus, "you'll play (x)RPG, but not (y)RPG" -- shit like that. Ignoring his sensitive fans for a sec., could Youtube and Twitch's systems, like the risk of demonetization, copyright strikes and anything explicitly sexual (RIP Goblin emote) be part of why he's less inclined to be as crass as he was with things like the Wordle bit? I'm so perplexed by this.

Not that I know of, but more than likely not. Though the only game I could see him maybe playing that'd remind him of games he grew up with (similar to when he played DQ11, but that's a RARE occurrence) is Alundra, since it's very Zelda inspired. Right down to the UI and the MC looking like Link's long lost relative. Either way, I'm curious to see what he'll stream.
I am absolutely astonished that someone else had this thought. I loved this stupid fucking game as a kid. If Vinny isn't going to play it, he absolutely should. It's suck a shame about the... sequel.

If anything, I'm kinda annoyed that he won't enforce some kind of "No politics" rule. If you don't want anything to do with these subjects, just ban the spergs who spam in chat praising the tranny colors or lefty slogans in a game. Spineless fuck.
Vinny would be permanently banned from Twitch if he did that. You might think I'm joking or exaggerating but I'm not, it's the truth.

Not surprised tbh. However, if I had the reach Vinny had, I would tell my true fans to follow me on the platform that wasn't as pozzed.
He used to stream on Youtube a few years ago, but then twitch added a exclusivity clause to the partnership contract, which I'm assuming Vinny blindly accepted or skimmed through the updated contract without a second thought before realizing his mistake when twitch decided to enforce that clause, so even if he could switch, he'd be losing his main income and half of his audience(twitch trannies).

Bit of a random thought, but I've been wondering about this for a while: both Vinny and Joel have their bands, they really like video game music - why don't they start making VGM covers? It's quite a popular thing to do on Youtube now, they could probably make some money from it and grow their audiences.

Well, that's a charitable interpretation.
It's something they both enjoy, there's nothing cynical about making money from something you're passionate about.
It's not quite the same thing but Joel did some Rocksmith streams awhile back but he had to stop because it turned into a copyright claim nightmare. I just don't think Joel or Vinny are really that interested in covering video game music to begin with, they'd rather focus on their own music.

I'm not super familiar with all of their musical work, but I always imagined it acting as both a way to be taken a little more "seriously" as a creative endeavor, and probably a method of stepping away from video games and streaming to do something else and helping avoid burnout. I don't think they'd completely shut down the idea of doing stuff related to video game OSTs, but it probably wouldn't be as high as a priority as making original works. Personally, I'd like to see more remixes/mashups in the vein of this, though again, it's more meme-y stuff and not a serious attempt at original music:
But hey, at least we'll always have Brick by Brick.

I'm pretty sure Vinny has included little chunks of video game OSTs in some of his music, iirc. Could be wrong but I swear that there has been a few TLOZ shout outs.

Not saying I would be glad if he went down that route, I do also believe he takes Red Vox pretty seriously these days, besides, the band if full of dads and normies outside of him and Mike, it would be kinda weird to turn it into a video game OST cover band out of no where when they are doing quite well as an indie.
