i was always a little unsure about whether the murder victim palmieri was the same family as vinny. i guess i'm a retard because i should have read the article a little further: it says vincent II. still lives in staten island, had a wife who died and has one son, whom he probably named vincent aswell in honor of his own dad. there's a lot of palmieri's in new york, but this is too specific to be a coincidence.
afaik vinny always preferred his grandfather (presumably from his mom's side if his dad's side really did die before he was born) over his parents, though he's not completely distant seeing as I also remember him talking on stream about buying a father's day gift. so if he wasn't a momma's boy before, all the hardship means he's a poppa's boy now for sure.
from what I read on archived pages on the old vinesauce forums (can't be arsed to pull up sources right now, just indulge me on this one), his mom died very suddenly. could be a very fast moving cancer or one that was discovered too late, or something else. i don't know how property works in new york: but you'd think if his mom died that the house would pass down to his father, not directly to him? maybe there really was some strain on the relationship. vinny wasn't exactly happy about owning the house initially
i guess the whole thing about him never encouraging donations makes sense now: his family has been getting life insurance checks out the wazoo for the past decade and a half, and the lawsuit against the vermont PD is quite substantial aswell. vinny's been living comfortably and can impulse purchase a PS5 nowadays.
