I saw that Vinny had uploaded a Slay the Spire 2 video not too long ago and went to have a look. He opens with one of his weird voices and goes on for a few minutes. I get annoyed with it since it was mostly intended to be background noise, skip ahead 10 minutes and he is still doing it. I skip another 10 then 20 and then once more towards the end 90~ minutes later and he is still doing some obnoxious character voice.

I don't know why I bother.

This sort of thing seems like it would turn people off to his content but he does it anyway. I was curious if this sentiment was reflected in his twitchtracker numbers and all I saw there was a stagnant channel after his multi-month break. At least compared to the slow and steady growth prior to that. I don't want to see him do poorly but I don't think I want to see his content anymore either.
A lot of the times he's not even doing a bit with the voice. He's just doing a voice for its own sake. It's grating and an instant skip for me.

Aw, part of Joel's absence has been helping taking care of his dad after a hip replacement surgery. Good son.

Why does this exist?
Why is it over two hours long?
Why is it kinda good?

I kneel, Joey-sama.

Edit to avoid double posting:

Since the Simpleflips thread is dead, I'll just post it here since it's adjacent. But here's a mentally ill tranny who can't watch anything unless the streamer explicitly thinks everything they do.

What a weak group of people. No wonder they keep offing themselves.

Been listening to Red Vox lately. It's not the best but it's alright and I appreciate how it sounds like a mix of David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Beck and The Beatles most of the time.
I'm concerned about how much of the lyrics are about memory problems, though. Wonder if Vinny has some kind of brain problem, other than the obvious.

I remember one time one of the red vox songs sneaked into my "recommend" playlist and it was like slap to the face.
I dont think i can take his music seriously after watching Vinny scream "COCK" while playing bing bing wahoo game.
But yeah his music is mid even though we have similar taste.

I have such a disgust response to this redditor that I’m certain it’s evolutionary. At best this post is deeply pathetic; at worst this is a weird underhanded guilt trip and is also deeply pathetic.

Despite not really watching Vinny all that much any more, I still like his music. Not my favorite band of all time or anything like that, but I think some of his songs are genuinely really good. However, I totally get why people don't like it and are put off by all the shilling he does on his streams. But you also can't really blame the guy for following his passion and wanting his band to be successful.

I don't think I'd ever go to one of his shows though. Being at a live venue with a bunch of Vinesauce fans sounds like torture.

Also, funny enough I have a friend that got really into Red Vox after he heard In the Garden on one of my music playlists. He has no idea who Vinny is or that he streams but he fucking loves the band way more than I do. I think that would make Vinny happy to hear. I wonder if he ever struggles with the fact that there's a lot of people that listen to his band just because they like his streams.

it all began with gamergate
Few years prior with Penny Arcade's Dickwolves fiasco in 2010 where the edgy humor that PA relied on in 2000's was getting a pushback and threats of boycotts, Anita Sarkeesian and obnoxious redditoid humor games with PSA's like Borderlands 2 in 2012 and overall a deliberate rapidly changing game industry's moral standards ect ect. That and the general audience of /v/ in 2000's were now getting into 20's as well as /new/'s reincarnation /pol/ gaining a lot of traction and spilling over. 2014's Gamergate was the final catalyst however.

Why do they need to seek constant validation from elsewhere? They can't ever make peace with themselves.

I’ll try not to derail the thread too much with tranny sperging but being trans is an identity that can only exist as validation from others. Other, real “identities,” your race/sex/age/sexuality/etc, are based upon immutable facts first and how you experience the world as a result of that identity second. Trans is based on an unprovable and very nebulous feeling; an identity only for those who identify as it. So in that sense there’s the logic to why the redditor needs validation that their streamer is pro-trans, because what’s the point of being trans otherwise?

Back on topic: After watching Vinny’s stream on TÖLT (an interesting idea for a game in my opinion but I got annoyed with Vinny when he put on a youtuber’s gameplay video at the end rather than doing his job and playing it himself) I’m watching Joel play MOTHERED, another game by the same developer. It’s from a few years ago and I’m not finished with it yet but I recommend it for those interested in indie psychological horror games.

Having gone to a red vox show, there was typical fan stuff, like people cheering on Vinny for drinking water or something dumb. As long as it's not interrupting the set for long, it's whatever. I think it goes too far when people stick around to be parasocial after the show, like it's a panel. I think Vinny made a statement against that. I don't understand the affect he has on some people, where being in his real presence turns them into creatures. He just seems like a regular dude.
Anyway, while I think Vinny's vocals can be strong and suit many songs well, a lot of the band members seem to carry more than him in the vocals or instrumentation department. I think Vinny lacks a lot of training for a professional musician. I understand we're not all infallible, but any time I've seen critique of the band (mostly Vinny), fans swoop in to brownnose

On another note, I've always been interested to find people's opinions on the music/lyricism beyond the abundance of "10/10 album. This album released at such a low point in my life. My turtle died and this album saved me"

Some shitty Overwatch streamer got Joey to play his own game, kind of like a Stanley Parable ripoff but without any of the charm, and at the end just turned it into a trauma dump about getting cucked and a family member getting cancer. lmao but seriously, I found it really creepy how at the end he wrote something about how he means to use the game's supposed fame to reach "her", really weird shit
Also the trannies in the chat got mad as fuck because he used a TTS voice.

That trauma dump was absurd and completely out-of-place. Not really sure what he was thinking but considering whatever he might've been going through he certainly wasn't thinking at all. I didn't catch that part at the end but yeah, weird. What a shame.
