However Joel mentioned something interesting in his GTA/VR stream today, basically he said he outgrew video games and feels guilty for it because he likes streaming and joking around so now he's hoping Doom Eternal will get him into vidya again without pretending that he likes it to not upset his viewers.

I think I get how he feels a bit. I think most of us at some point felt like we've grown out of vidya or dont understand games that are being made anymore.

I grew out of vidya 4 years ago but still watch Vinny/Joel for their commentary, so take that as you will. At some point (and hopefully for a lot of you) real life just becomes good enough to a point where escapism isn't needed anymore unless you're spending time with friends or family and they want to do something.

For me, the disinterest in video games mainly comes from a place of not wanting to splurge all my money into the hobby. There's a lot of games that I could be interested in right now, but a lot are full price. Not to mention that I don't want to build up a sort of "backlog" of them. Sure, I'd like to be able to pick up that new cool FPS that everyone says is a must–play, but there's also other stuff that I'd like to get to, or that other game that would be sorta cool to try. It's just too much. Truly the embodiment of first world problems.

If it was not for the $30 gift card I had for best buy I would not have preordered ACNH, that game is close to $85 in Canadian pesos with taxes.

Could it also be due to insecurity too? maybe he feels that way cause the last family get together he stuck out like a sore thumb cause he was the only adult that still plays video games? like I know Vinny is older than he is but in that regard Vinny doesn't give a shit in comparison. I don't think Vinny has really indicated "I'm too old for this shit" yet aside from maybe a few games? or if he's got local friends maybe the "Oh I'm married and have X kids now, you still play them vidya games? you gotta grow up sometime. By the way, my wife is pregnant with our 4th! and what's that game you are playing now? I wanna get it for my 5-year-old. But you need to stop with the video games tho."

Joel have a girlfriend? maybe he's getting pressure to start a family on both sides?

That reminds me of how for years I got the new pokemon games ASAP cause all my friends are doing it, but at this point I got over that feeling and most of my purchases are older pc ports and indie stuff on steam that I can pick up dirt cheap during sales. I guess Vinny's streams are also a way for me to see the deal with some of these bigger first party titles that I don't feel like buying a new console for cause I remember getting really excited during that initial 7 hour breath of the wild stream to just see him discover shit and fuck around but I don't see myself getting a switch anytime soon.

I'm glad there hasn't been too much interaction with this post. As shitty and weird as the Tumblr community gets at times, I think people are over the whole social justice thing-- at least for Vinesauce. Good for Vinny for ditching that website as a whole, too. People were getting super creepy with the Vlinny art and tried too hard to expose him + make #metoo stories about him.

Not sure how much the other streamers use Tumblr, but I know Rev advertised his stream not too long ago in the #vinesauce tag.

Been binge watching old Tomodachi life streams and the whole expanded universe of that was very very autistic. It hot way worse than I ever even knew.

We're gonna see something of that ilk when the New Horizons streams start, since the New Leaf streams had a similar autistic vibe going on with the "lore" and whatever (not to mention all the furfags popping out of the woodwork with the art, like with Scoot and Cherry).

I somewhat like Vinny's streams of Animal crossing new leaf, its what came out of of it that is horrendous. If I remember correctly those streams spawned alot of porn of Cherry especially from that Techwork furfag. Sometimes I wonder if Vinny truly knows what he is indirectly creating.

Only "Best friends" permitted can lay down patterns, cut trees etc. Something I highly doubt Vinny will enable.
