I heard the first game is pretty grindy but also that there's a mod that makes it so you don't have to grind as much, so I imagine that's always an option.
If he wanted to play Mother without having to deal with constant encounters from enemies, his best bet would be getting a Mother 1+2 rom and equipping the easy ring until he made it to Magicant- though he might find it to be too easy since it also boosts your defense and makes battles go by super quick. Even though it's a game I want him to play as well, I don't know how receptive he would be to an NES rpg, and if he did end up playing it I would hope it's not that 25th anniversary edition rom hack or anything that takes away the charm of the original.

I know that every time Vinny brings up the Nintendo vs. Sega thing from the 90's he's mostly just joking but it feels like he's still genuinely a little bit salty about the whole thing. Same with Joel except that extends into Nintendo vs. Sony in his case as well.
Hopefully i dont end up spewing out TMI, but tldr Joel mods have their own discord server(s) (shocker) and they're pretty much what you would expect from a discord server - 90% of the population are artists who try to draw their way into """"inner circles"""" of joel's staff (aka jerk off his mods enough times).

Skidibas? who kept posting pictures of herself for the mods & Joel and was drawing shitty fanart. My art hoe gf at the time wanted to get Joel's bussy too hard i spose, so she decided to spend literally 70-80% of her daily time trying to appease the mods in one way or another (art, gifts, whatever).
What ended up happening is that after a half a year of dilligent jerking off she took a flight to Sweden to meet with the man himself and got molested by some of his mods there

Several guys in chat were always simping for her, although she looked as you'd expect lol (obese, short black hair, not the clearest skin). This must have been 2019, and I still don't understand the mental gymnastics of "wow this man does nothing except moderate the chat of a funny Swedish man that plays video games, how insanely attractive. " Knowing most of Joel's mods are unemployed and pushing/over 30 (like Leon or Dry) makes this even funnier.
