Just finished 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors.
The time travel plot twist
at the end killed some of my enjoyment of it, but it was still really good.
Never understood why this was an issue for some people.
The twist that you're seeing two different perspectives at the same time is still my favorite part.
I finished Zero Time Dilemma earlier this week. After playing the previous two, this was a satisfying ending... but I don't want it to end.

Looking forward to playing the upcoming Phoenix Wright entry, and the Hotel Dusk "spiritual successor" Chase coming out later this year. Debating whether or not to get Corpse Party.
I got mixed feelings about ZTD, tbh. Still enjoyed it but I felt it was not as fleshed out as the previous two.

I just finished 999 myself. The writing is so damned good, and even when
things got a little fantastical towards the end, the story still really works for me due to how well the story hints at and builds up to the big twist.

The characters were all interesting and are either likable or you at least have some form of sympathy towards.

Thinking of getting VLR next now.

Reread Steins;gate and while I still think it's got the worst fucking choice and consequence system in any VN I've ever read, it's still got a great story with lots of feels and fun.
Also got into Majikoi A-1 and while the quality seems to be taking minor dips with each new release, the cast was still pretty funny and I can't get enough of the music.

bumping thread because I'm currently playing through Virtue's Last Reward, haven't made it past the locks yet, though I have gotten Dio's ending.

Isn't it funny how Dio's all "indiviualism is evil and my cult will free the world of all wrongs" when he's easily the most disruptive and self-interested participant? He kills the old lady so he can participate in the Nonary Game, makes Sigma choose between his own life and Quark's and just about everybody tries to avoid pairing up with him so they don't have to deal with his shenanigans.

Also, Clover's facial expressions can get pretty off in this. I'm not sure if it was intended or not for her default state to be "absent smile", especially when they clearly have more suitable poses to choose from for the right moments.

On a technical note, I kinda wish I could turn off the voice acting in this. Not because I hate the Japanese dub, but it kinda breaks my reading flow, which is kind of a big issue if we're dealing with a game that's 90 percent reading.

So I just went through Saya no Uta as my first VN because I have a raging boner for Cosmic Horror.

I was not disappointed, shit was bonkers. I went in planning on doing the new world route but by the deciding moment I actually found myself rooting for the blonde guy and the doctor, so I backed them.

That's the ending I like the least for how bleak it is. I think even the white world ending is better since it at least give Fuminori some hope

So I read that some French director is interested in making a live action adaption of Saya no Uta. I at least hope he could do a better job at adapting it than the American comic. There are some things I do not blame them for changing but I feel the writers missed the point about Fuminori being a sociopath.

I see you got the European version. I would also chalk up Clover's offmodelness to the 3D modellers not used to making models.

I'm in the minority in that my favorite ending is the one where Fuminori goes back to normal. I get why some people consider it a bad end, especially since you miss out on a huge chunk of the story, but the damage is kept to a minimum and that's how I prefer it.

Like Dane I rooted more for Kouji and Dr. Tanbo though, as dark as that ending is.

Finally got to the end of VLR.

what the fuck was that ending holy shit

It definitely suffered from the fact that its story wasn't told as concisely as 999's, but I definitely enjoyed it very much nonetheless, crashes towards the end making me mash through roughly an hour worth of dialogue nonewithstanding.

So here's the question, since I hear very polarizing things about it: how much do I get out of playing Zero Time Dilemma? On one hand, I hear that it at makes for a satisfying ending for the whole series, but if I listen to the other side, it's a massive clusterfuck that drops a lot of plot points from previous games and makes some really stupid design decisions.

It was obviously not the game Uchikoshi had in mind.
This chart somewhat reflects how I feel:

What I do like is how they further flesh out Junpei and Akane's relationship, the scene with Sigma and Diana is good even if it involved a twist I didn't like. Carlos is pretty chill.

Here's the one spoiler I'm willing to give you so you aren't disappointed later:

Final verdict: It was MGSV all over again. I enjoyed it for all of its flaws; so I say, get it on sale.

humble bundle is offering a great bundle of VNs.The highlight is the first five Higurashi arcs for just 10 bucks, among others.

So was there any explanation given to why Zero time Time Dilemma had all those plotholes?

What do you guys think of the upcoming Steins:Gate rerelease? I'm excited to get it, but I'm mixed if it improves on the VN's simplistic style.

Which one in particular? Broad answer is the 4-year gap and a rewrite because he felt bored of the original.

I just randomly saw this. If they pull this off it's an insane amount of work. I think Umineko is like close to 200 hours long, not to mention all the sprite work. The voice acting is really good and they're actually working with 7th expansion so there's a good chance we'll see the best visual novel ever coming to consoles.

But yeah I'm skeptical until it actually releases.

Also do people actually like Rose Guns Days? It feels like the odd duckling of 07th expansion that nobody remembers.
