The wording in the article is just yellow press, so unless you come from the early 20th century, you shouldn't be shocked about it existong. And the thing is that such embargoes used to be more strict before, not less, so this happening isn't extraordinary either
I'm tired, boss. :(

I don't even play these types of games but I couldn't find any mention of this when I searched for it and this seems like the most relevant place to post it so here it is. Normally I wouldn't even give a shit but the title made me double take. And then I actually read it.

The full article if you REALLY want to give them the click.

I feel like this is the only place I can sperg about this and not get faggots telling me how it's actually a good thing that you can get thrown in the slammer somewhere for spoiling a fucking glorified choose your own adventure game.
I can really feel that we're truly living in clown world after seeing this.

This just shouldn't even exist. If you don't want people spoiling your game then just don't fucking release it in the first place. Should I even have to explain why being able to legally punish people for posting videos or streaming a game a little too early shouldn't even exist? Like I'm not even talking about leaking a game early I'm talking just flat out you are fucking not allowed to post anything about a game online until a certain date or it's off to prison for your ass even if it's been legally released.

:lossmanjack:
On one hand it's excessive, but VNs have far less of a budget and probably not easy to make up their budget. Prosecuting someone is retarded and does more harm than good, but I can understand the frustration.
Had a dream there was a Sakura Wars Compilation on PS5 and Switch. Do you know how pissed I was upon waking up and realizing it didn't exist?!
I remember they made a new series for it, but made it bland action game, plus a gacha. Wonder if it's dead now.

VNs are in a strange position here. They're entirely, or almost entirely, story content. So, watching someone else play it is essentially the same as playing it yourself. What a lot of companies try to do is compromise by releasing a public statement saying something to the effect of "we're glad to see people streaming our game, but please don't go past 'X' so as to not [completely undermine our financial prospects] I mean spoil other fans who might want to read it themselves." That being said, taking full legal action against someone is more than a little beyond the pale. Type Moon will let you stream through Arcueid's route in Tsuki:re before they even so much as look at you, and that's essentially half of the entire game.

Came here to rage about this too, fuck this stupid faggot. If the stupid fuck wants to write a manga, they should do that, not pollute the Steam store with even more fucking garabage. You aren't a game developer, you're a failed faggot author who doesn't understand the fucking times. The streamer didn't sign a contract, he is not legally bound to uphold your word of mouth deal, you fucking slant-eyed crypto-kike. If g2a had a key, I'd get one (grey market means devs aint seeing shit from me) and stream it in its entirety just out of spite.

So you're saying....
They're not games and should stop being treated as such? Im down.

Spike Chunsoft does that with all their games. They finally allowed people to fully stream the original Danganronpa game a few years ago.

"VNs aren't games" is also a weird topic. They're computer programs sold as entertainment products. But, you don't "play" a book. But, also a lot of Visual Novels have game-ish elements, or they game-ify the whole choose your own adventure format. I've sense kind of stopped caring about the whole debate because at the end of the day, it's all semantics. Just play what's good and some VNs are good.

I dont understand people who feel their lives have gotten ruined just because they got spoiled on a game or tv-show. happens to me all the time (thanks youtube algorithm) and i just say "that sucks. anyway".

The japs however take it too a hole other fucking level. Persona 5 (which is almost ten years old at this point) will still block sections from the game when you are streaming it on a ps4 because of spoilers.

Its out you niggers (its really the 7th, japan time, bleh), Fate finally has a English release... and Type Moon released it BUSTED! LMAO. A patch should be out soon, they do know about it on their steam page. Still, from what i hear, it does look nice, its all in 16x9, really nice shit. Its just being niggery right now and misplacing sprites and shit.

Personally im excited to play it again. I've played the old version without any edits. I want to see how it is with the new translation and the removal of the (hilariously bad) sex scenes. This seems to be the "definitive edition". I am honestly stoked.

I still would rather have the option to enable and disable the H scenes. It's weird that VNs (even American ones like Katawa Shoujo) need to be All Ages to be allowed on steam when FURRY SEX WITH HITLER ON AN ISLAND HD is allowed with no strings attached. At least the Ultimate Edition for FSN still exists if they never bother to unfuck this version.

Most re-releases of modern VNs don't include sex scenes (if they ever included them). Little Busters! is a good example of this, as well as the fact that a higher age rating naturally leads to a smaller aviable market. It is not just an Steam thing

I just wish the Sakura wars remake was on PC.
The remake was very mediocre, it basically felt like a bargain knock off of the original.

Valve has no problems with allowing sexual content in VNs on Steam, there are many VNs that are uncensored 18+ versions right off the bat on Steam. The issue is that Valve is extremely weary about anything with a high school setting/high school age characters and sexual content.

That is weird to me. Like there are FULL HENTAI GAMES on steam. In any case im sure there will be a patch so you can use Ultimate edition with this. That said I get steam's angle. It's a bigger title, bigger market. And from type moons perspective, the H scenes have been gone since the PS2 release. And its available on SWITCH as well. They wern't going to make 2 versions.

Accordingly no issues on Switch, but the Steam version has this problem if your locale is not set to Japanese as reported.

Where's the physical copy on Switch? Was announced a while ago but never went for sale on Amazon JP.
