Where's the physical copy on Switch? Was announced a while ago but never went for sale on Amazon JP.
I looked and have not seen it yet. Which sucks, I want one lol. On the plus side the fix patch is out, so now no more bug out screens. Its working now. But for that brief time:

Ok i've played it for a hour. Now that the patch is in, it seems to be running fine. Looks great. This is a screenshot from the game in 16x9. Never thought you'd see that, did you? In any case, one thing I will note, is the settings, like Nasu, are fucking AUTISTIC. I have NEVER seen so many fucking toggles on a VN in my fucking life. Every charecter has a mute button and a volume meter. Every charecter. Shirou by some twist of fate 🥁is muted by default. I don't even think it's a glitch, I just think someone hit that button by accident right before they wrapped up finishing the game for release. In any case, go through the config and adjust the fuck out of your settings for your particular set up, they sure as hell gave you enough tools to do it.

Every character having their own sound settings is pretty much the industry standard

You will have to play it to see what I mean. There is a significant amount of control over just about everything. I mentioned it because it does not come "optimized" out of the box. Like you DO need to config your shit before playing or it isnt going to be great. I noticed on the steam page people were having "audio sync" issues, when really they just needed to hit the switch that terminated dialog when you click next.

If I had to describe it, it'd be this:
YJY2WYHVZCOUFBTOQNO4A7DJ7U.jpg
It might just be the presentation, but it feels like a wall of switches and buttons compared even to the VN's you showed, even if they do the same thing. It's not a mess per se, but it will trip up a new guy that just started playing VN's and doesn't know how to fix it.

Sounds rather redundant, as I would expect for all of the character's voices to be at more or less the same volume in relation to eachother during the game. But I guess that it doesn't hurt nor takes that much time to implement

P.S Speaking of Little Busters! Why is Kud so short? She looks like a literal midget, and the MC is rather short even for jap standards as well

I've only ever used the individual voice dials in one game and that's just because there was one character I just, flat out, did not want to hear speak. It was the fat girl from that one Asaproject game. I don't remember what it was called.

I mean it's nice. The audio is from a PS Vita port, if you remember that handheld. There easily could have been compression problems because they needed to put it on a cartridge.

That said, it's also tradition as @AWarmToiletSeat pointed out. Probably because VN's are archaic in terms of gaming, and you really wanted to be able to adjust your shit in the PC-98 days to get the most out of your sound. That and, who knows, maybe you just hate a characters voice and want to mute it, idk.

I always ignore Kud when playing LB. But to answer, I think it's because its set in middle school rather than high school. It explains the ESRB rating as well, which is T for Teen. So no sex or anything.

If only we could mute fatasses in real life as well.

I'm not well-versed when it comes to jap middle-schooler heights, but even then she looks unnaturally shorter than everybody else

According to this promo, she's 145cm, that's 4'9", which, for a 3/4ths russian girl, feels unnaturally short. Like, grabbing this girl and folding her like an origami to carry in my backpack kind of short

The original release didn't have those scenes, and that's the one most people play/know about. Kinda weird really, normally the original release has the sex scenes and the re-releases remove them
I can reasonably assume they were planned from the beginning because the voice talent they hired are all notorious for making those kinds of games. Whereas that is not the case for every other game Key had released. Not even just the All Ages ones. Just... all of them. The subsequent 18+ re-releases of Air and Kanon have the Adult content go without voice acting.

Edit: This only applies to the Female Characters (And also Riki for some reason). Kyosuke, Kengo and Masato are all voiced by pretty main stream, and high profile, talent.

Uh... That is very not true.View attachment 6284964
That's what Nintendo lists it as man. They rate it Teen. I'm also hearing all ages. I know for a fact steam isn't selling the 18+ version which I'm playing. Idk, japs are weird.

That would at least make some sense from a marketing perspective. Make a all ages version, blue market approach, sell the shit out of it, then up rate it for the 18+ audience.

What a strange development cycle, man.

Yes, but normally it is the other way around, as happened with OG Tsukihime, Fate, Muv-Luv, etc. Key is also not one of those studios that usually includes sexual content, if I'm not mistaken, they were among the first to make successful non-eroge VNs

Saya's Voice Actress in particular is really funny to me.

Like, I imagine that some poor, overworked Japanese Salaryman probably had his Joker moment with the realization that one of the voices of his beloved Care Bears screams about wanting dick into a microphone to make money.

This is one among the many reasons as to why Strawberry Shortcake will always be the superior 80s American Greetings animated character, that's what my mom always told me.

Just look at it, peak fiction

That I do find completely strange. Little Busters is a VN I can actually recommend to friends that aren't into VN'S and don't want the sex shit. It is very confusing that they would kinda taint that market by adding such a patch. Like are you going for the T rating audience or the full Otaku? Like, pick one.

I guess while I'm on this tangent. I might as well bring up a few other mental health altering factoids along these lines. First and foremost is that one of the most overplayed jokes in internet history is also done by one such voice actress. Meaning all of my fellow Millennials are millimeters away from their own Joker moment.

Not that you Zoomers are any safer. Considering how many high profile roles Ikumi Hasegawa has had in the last 3 or so years. I've seen A LOT of praise for her by name and none of the posts I've seen seem to be made by people who are any the wiser about this whole thing.

Anyway, this concludes my TED Talk. If any of you knew all of this beforehand I suggest you follow me in laying down in the street and hoping someone parks their tires on your face because God is too lazy to kill you himself.
