I've noticed (both online and IRL) that people are very convinced that the US election system is broken or flawed and yet get very annoyed when someone mentions that they don't vote. I'm genuinely curious as to what people here think on the matter. Is the voting system broken? Should voting be mandatory? Should only certain people vote? Should it just be a personal choice and are you a horrible human being if you choose not to?

>Should voting be mandatory?
Fuck no. This policy is the Number 2 reason why I'm never moving to that disgusting China-simping shithole normies call Australia. If anything, voting needs to be made more exclusive. Universal sufferage is retarded as shit, and is what is ruining the United States and many other countries. Have people actually earn their right to vote, instead of just giving it to every random dumbass faggot as soon as they turn 18. It would make the world a better place for everyone

I like the idea of idiot tests you have to pass to get to vote. Like if someone tells you that Election Day has been postponed until the weekend and you don't vote because of that, then good. But ideally voting would be a very restrictive system, like it was in all countries, even the US, until foolish ideas like "universal suffrage" came about (in large part thanks to socialism which falsely claims everyone is equal). We need to be weeding people out of the electoral system, not inviting them in.

As far as voting actually being useful, it isn't. I haven't voted the past few elections because I thought not voting is just as valid of a vote (and IMO it is), but I voted again in this election because I think there is some sense in voting as a protest. I just filled out all the independents (I did research who they were first so I wasn't accidently voting for a commie, one of the guys is a cool local meme candidate) and skipped voting in every other race. I'm not voting for Congressman Neocon (R) to send 90% of my tax money to Ukraine and the rest to Israel. He hasn't earned my vote, so he won't get it.

That's smart voting. More voters should vote like that but instead they're a bunch of idiots who believe the system isn't rigged against them and if they just vote in Congressman Neocon things will get better. It won't. Like at the very least Congressman Commie (D) is more likely to give voters at least SOME commie policies as he gives money to Amazon to put more workers in wage cages.
The way I see it, if you're complaining about how things are ran and you didn't vote, you have no room to talk.
That's a literal turboboomer-tier take my grandparents would say and I heard some old woman who was like 80 years old say it when I went to vote a few days ago.

It's not the voting system that's broken, it's the politics themselves. The only way a regular person could be elected if he's rich and has a lot of connections to the elites, so vote red or blue, it doesn't fucking matter because whoever you elected sacrifices babies for Moloch. Universal Suffrage only makes the issues worse since we're on a constant loop of retards voting themselves more money that they expect will come out of the ether and have no bearing on the country.

Democracy seems great in theory (like communism) but it doesn't work outside of small communities. Seems a society of a few hundred people (all distantly related) is about as good as you'll get for a functional democracy. The larger society gets, the less democratic it must necessarily get. This either means there's restrictions on who can vote or the society ends up ruled by oligarchs. The former includes some of the most functional societies in history like the early US, the British Empire, or the Roman Republic. The latter includes China, the Soviet Union, and the 21st century United States.

Should only certain people vote?
Absoluely universal suffrage was one of the biggest mistakes to ever happen. My ideal and most realistic (even if its still a pipe dream) system would be 25yr minimum voting age and only if you've paid taxes.
