I was wondering why they would do it on their main account of all things. Like with most pedophiles, they try to hide because they have some level of shame for what they enjoy. So why even risk getting exposed as still being a sick pedophile trying to connect with other pedophiles? Then it fucking hit me: This is how they got into it in the first place. There might be so many fucking pedophilic freaks playing VRChat that it's easy for Jamma to meet them. They don't have to obfuscate, they just wait until they add him.
Exactly the conclusion that I've come to as well too. VRC is full of these freaks, such that you can simply stumble upon them in popular public lobbies, as seen by the countless streams and pre-recorded content covering VRC. It would seem logical that they would hide out in private areas, utilizing coded words/phrasing to mask their behaviors, but they are so brazen due to an uncomfortable amount of people being accepting of such behaviors.
I'm pretty sure it's also why "pansexual" became a LGBT thing with younger people in the early 2010's, because it meant "being attracted to everyone", when it was scientifically used to name the documented behavior of studied lab animals when they showed traits of mating with other species, same sex, parental, siblings, babies, and even the dead. It's a paraphilia that pedophiles hid behind claiming it was only for homosexuals and transgenders the whole time when bisexuality was already a term for that.
I think a lot of this has come to "letting the wolves into the sheep pen". LGBT acceptance was globally at it's highest acceptance when it was simply allowing gays/lesbians to be treated as normal people for simply engaging with same sex adults. Over time, the Overton window shifted such that there is unironic discussion around if it is acceptable for pre-school children to be trans. The arguments to support such radical positions leads to same justification being possible to apply to ridiculous concepts like trans-racialism and others. I think that in the same way that AGP males have infected transgenderism, pedophiles are also leaning on justifications for other LGBT positions to reduce the stigma around pedophilia. The slippery slope of fear-mongering concerns in the past is unironically being proven true due to the lack of gatekeeping in the LGBT movement, leading to declining positive sentiment around LGBT positions these days as a result of these "wolves" taking advantage of the "sheep". "Egg-cracking" is another predatory example that personifies the "wolves" vs. "sheep".
Pre-Internet, such extreme positions/behaviors would have limited support as a result of lacking opportunities to meet others with similar proclivities and interests. What makes things like VRC, Discord, and other Internet related communities so dangerous in this respect is the ability to connect to such extreme individuals from all over and collaborate in communities. Allowing them to work together, bounce ideas off each other, engage in degeneracy, etc. This is being done "publicly" in terms of general Internet activity, but "privately" in the sense of real life as those around them could be totally oblivious to what is happening. For example, ignorant parents could skim over at what is "lolicon" interest, and dismiss such things like "
our special guy really likes those Japanese cartoons", before they go back to grueling double-shift somewhere (or drinking at a bar) and being oblivious to their children again.
Absentee parents dumping their kids into VRC, Discord, etc are opening their kids up to be either taken advantage of by these freaks or enter communities that groom them to become such freaks in the future.
But I agree with you, they need to get anyone under the age of 18 off the game, time to grow up, rebrand, and become a adult platform, If they would stop trying to cling on to every demographic and accept the fact that they are a adult only platform, it would probably open up an entirely new world for them but they're clinging to the idea that somehow their children audience is what pays for their servers......you know not the people over the age of 18 that buy shit for their game
Without a draconian clamp down on internet usage (i.e. tying your internet usage to your real life profile, total removal of anonymity), I don't think there is a way to allow children onto a game like VRC and avoiding victimization. Allowing user generated content and private areas to the extent that VRC does just affords too many attack vectors to be utilized to groom/victimize children (vs. compared to say a Call of Duty online match). I initially thought maybe there could be methods introduced to restrict access/functionality effectively, but I've become black-pilled on this over time and I don't think this would ever work.
I also have concerns about businesses who are catering to children in this way, as they are in a way grooming them to keep making use of the service (developing dependency) until they reach an age where they can support themselves and invest money into the game. If a child can get funds to spend on the game, it usually comes from an absentee or inattentive parent who dismissively assumes they are just buying some cosmetic or whatever normal item in-game. When this also includes user-generated content, there is a chance for this content to be wildly inappropriate for someone their age, or something degenerative that will fuck with their head and potentially groom them to becoming pedophiles in the future.
Sadly, in the end, I think the only thing that can be really done to turn the tide on this is to document such situations as much as possible to have tangible evidence about the extent of such problems. The Irons situation shows how this stuff can even come up as relevant again in the future.
