Given everything that's been said, I'm inclined to think she WAS thinking about retiring and had voiced as much to her peers within the Vtuber community, but was still on the fence about it. Especially since people are saying she'd been away from streaming for months due to family sickness and streaming is a BIG commitment. So she was coming back to see if she still felt comfortable and she probably had people asking her to play HL because that's the hot flavor right now.

Then after she announces the stream, she gets wrecked by the harassment and cancels the stream, with her deciding that if this is the kind of shit she's going to be getting out of the blue now, then she wants no part of it and thus her retirement announcement after another period of silence.

Essentially, Troons simply made it that much easier for her to decide to retire sooner rather than later, as I'm guessing talks were already happening and she would have retired later this year with a bigger celebration planned.

The fact she's liking comments about going after the harassment says a lot, since I would expect she can't speak publicly about the reasons for 'graduating' at present.

Acknowledging why she's graduating, that it's from politics, would send the whole Vtuber space into a frenzy, it might actually rip it apart. What she's doing is very Japanese, being quiet outwardly while still making gestures as to why things are happening. The main culprits complaining and contributing to the harassment are mostly "VTweeters" and their sycophants. All VTweeters do is grift off the label vtuber and usually don't have a model, personality, or talent worth presenting. A fair amount of them seem to be MTF and have a distaste for certain anime tropes like fanservice for some reason. It doesn't surprise me that they'd invade a hobby such as this and demand that others adhere to their standards.
