I came back to the game after 2 years and straight into where I left- german bluewater ships.
I've been using Lepzig light cruiser mostly and it's a beast in many respects- especially the fire rate and turning rate/speed relation.
But I have several questions if anyone would be kind to answer (I play mostly arcade):
1. I try using SPAs and APs but I consistently end in the middle of the score list. I just don't know how other people play- personally I utilize the turning and fire rate of Leipzig- I zero in on a ship and give it heavily angled, but full cannon broadside. If I hear or see splashes around me- I start waiving like a madman and playing around with speed, all the while keep the guns firing on my chosen target. I got somewhat good at it- by my estimation at least 75% of my salvos land at least partially. If both me and target are moving in a straight line- even more. Naturally accuracy goes down as I start doing waving and doing tricks with maneuvers and smoke screen (one of the good things about Leipzig is that the rear main battery is bigger than the front one- this means you can pull a top speed insane 90 degrees turn, set the smoke and move away from the enemy perpendicular, all the while continuing to give him most of your main gun salvo).
In majority of battles my ship survives through the whole fight and I don't even die once during the match. However, I persist on being in the middle of the score, despite consistent hits.
Why is that? I know that Leipzig guns are fast, but small, but still- I consistently land hits. Is it because the players above me simly deal more damage due to larger calibre and that's all that counts?
2. Am I playing with bots? When I use my unsophisticated maneuver Leipzig tactic against the enemy I often see that they continue in a straight line and don't even change their target. Meanshile I'm able to wave my ship wildly 90, even 180 degrees, while keeping a reasonable accuracy on the enemy. Again- I play arcade, but I don't rely much on the auto-targeting, to me it's more of a suggestion than an actual aiming help, I aim by the eye often.
Or is it because players just dont care and sail in the straight line because it doesn't matter if they die as long as they get even a small ammount of "profit" by score? I often seen this in arcade air battles- people just dont give a crap and all the fighting is just one big pile of dogfighting 500m above ground, while I'm doing boom'n'zoom and getting less score since I spend part of the time climbing for a new attack or zooming away.
3. Should I even use SAP? Back when played the last time it was said that the light cruiser should use SAP almost all the time, but I'm looking at my post-battle hits and I see many non-pens on the laughable things like destroyer belt.

1: You have the right idea about rate of fire but last time I checked, Naval doesn't have the severe damage mechanic that Air does, which means unless you get the very last hit on someone you aren't getting that many points. Are you getting a lot of kills or are you just getting assists? Assists don't count for jack in naval.
2: Yes you are playing with bots, both official Gaijin bots (which give you 1/10th the reward of normal kills) but also player bots, although the player run bots have been decreased quite a lot. You can tell its a player bot account by checking their record. They'll have like 75,000 battles in the Moffet with 14 kills. Also because of the small playerbase in naval, you are going to run into a lot of people who act like bots because they're totally inexperienced.
3: I can't answer that because the meta shifts a lot. The best advice I can give you is to use the new crew concentration feature in the protection analysis tab and to aim for that stuff if you can.
Also iirc using light cruisers kinda sucks (depending on their BR) because their real life role isn't very well represented in the retarded implementation naval battles have right now.

Bluewater Naval is cool and I like it in short bursts (and naval EC is pretty cool too) but I get too frustrated by all its flaws to truely enjoy it.
Boats are fun as fuck though, love playing boats.

Yeah, you're absolutely right, I score at the average 5-10 assists during every match. Ships have complicated systems in place, at least the game claims to, you can score penetrating hits even on the things like main turret citadel ammo elevator. Sucks that the non-essential compartments just count as one big grey zone though.

Damn, it sounds like I'm the only scizo enjoying the naval battles in WT.

Thanks, I'll look into it.

I just enjoy the idea of annoying yamato-fags who specifically go for the "biggest meanest ship", I guess it's akin to people who like playing faster vehicles in ground battles and target the 14yo heavy-fags. Leipzig is great for it, there is something so nice in watching you ping machinery just by the shear weight of fire, even if it sucked ass in irl.
Yeah, the only time light cruiser is anywhere within miles of the enemy battle line is when the enemies screen has collapsed completely or when it's scouting, if I understand correctly. But then again- the firing distances are comical in WT, not that I would like to fire at a tiny black dot on the horizon instead.

Most of my bluewater kills have come from spamming the 15x Long Lance torpedos the Shimakaze has in arcade because I'm a fucking rat bastard.

The fact that in most matches you spawn within firing range of the enemy kinda sucks, but its why Naval EC is pretty cool - the maps are large enough that you can maneuver around. Its just slower paced.

Btw, he's a youtuber turned Gaijin employee.

3. install any part mods that u want, and luna multiplayer if u run BDAc
4. deeign ur planes (add autopilot AI if ur not gonma play against other people, if u need help tuning it, ask me) (or ask me if u want some good planes but dont wanna bother making any)
5. play a strictly better war thunder without feeding the snail

tl;dr

If you heard about the EPIC LATEST WARTHUNDER LEAK DRAMA (???!!!REAL>??) its a nothingburger.

Another forum user has done the needful and has posted SEKRET DOKUMENTS (i.e. available on the public Internet but falls under U.S. DISTRIBUTION STATEMENT C) regarding the F-14D.

Apparently this user is retarded because the information he cited in order to correct Gaijin on F-14 loadouts was also in a completely declassified document that would have circumvented this breach of the TOS.

The Snail's foreign intel crowdsourcing scheme got a bite but it wasn't anything worthwhile.

  • Oversee the “Almost Fun Tactical Response Team”

Any reasonable person would think that you obviously aren't supposed to buy this pack, but these are War Thunder players we're talking about...some of the most wallet-raped gamers that still exist.

Gaijin, as always, failed to deliver and later updated the store page to ruin the joke by explaining the joke.

What the fuck. The prices are the most insane shit I have seen. $70-80 virtual pre-order units, now $20,000 for cosmetic bundles that are not even complete. The only time I've seen this is in VALORANT. Hell, I don't think Gaijin's competitors are this insanely greedy.

EDIT: Turns out it was an April Fools (the $20,000 pricetag) but holy shit both the devs and the playerbase are just as fucked.

i preface this by apologizing for necroposting guys, i wrote the replies as i was reading the thread

Also is it worth getting into this game as a casual player?
no, it's a money sink

modded KSP is better anyway imo
Yeah, they absolutely were. They also regularly landed at base missing substantial chunks of them. There's a reason the Germans used increasingly bigger weapons against them, including modified Nebelwerfers and 50mm autocannons.
mostly because bombers flew higher and higher as the war progressed to avoid being hit by AA guns

up-armoring a plane is less effective than simply flying higher

so AA guns had longer and longer ranges
so they could reach high-flying bombers, but to do that, u needed a lot more muzzle velocity, and to get that, u needed a bigger shell, and a bigger gun to accomodate that
9.3 MiG-21's
wasnt the mig-21 IRL a pile of junk that was just really cheap to make and maintain, so basically every african warlord bought thousands of em from the soviets and put their most retarded of soldiers to fly these hunks of junk, ruining whatever reputstion they might have

it was designed to do one thing: go mach 2, thats the only thing it can, its radar is ass and cannot be upgraded cuz the intake at the front occupies all the room you'd place a radar in, its turn rate is ass, prerty sure it's even worse than the phantom

its RWR is only 1 light that tells u "you are going to die rn, but we dont know from where", which was bad even in the 60s

if it was flying with its fuel tank at less than 50% full, its engine would shut down if u touched the stick too hard, and as its fuel drained, its center of mass would shift backwards causing it to get less and less stable until it becomes statically unstable, and with no fly-by-wire, it's pretty much impossible to fly a statically unstable plane

btw this meant that if u fly it for more than 45 minutes, you will crash cuz it will become too unstable to control

western planes, even from the same era were better at it at everything except cost, cuz it costs more to make smth that isnt shit

but it cost less than a BMP, and was so barebones that even a chimpanzee could maintain it, so selling it to niggers who needed a cheap air force made the soviets some good coin
All F2P games are aimed at poor people for whom grinding hundreds of hours seems more palatable than paying a fee up front, whether that's children or unemployed autists.
nahhh i got money, im just incredibly stingy (dutch jew)
Don't play it is mine. Do yourself a favor and buy a flight stick and Il-2 Stormovik 1946 if you're into planes
my advice: KSP+FAR+BDArmory
