mostly because bombers flew higher and higher as the war progressed to avoid being hit by AA guns and greatly reduce the damage sustained in case they get hit cuz the projectile lost most of its energy,

up-armoring a plane is less effective than simply flying higher

so AA guns had longer and longer ranges
so they could reach high-flying bombers, but to do that, u needed a lot more muzzle velocity, and to get that, u needed a bigger shell, and a bigger gun to accomodate that
Wow, you really have no idea how these things work if you're saying its the velocity of the shell and not the explosive filler that's responsible for causing the damage. Hint: TNT has a detonation velocity of 6,900 m/sec, RDX 8,750 m/sec. The shell's velocity isn't nearly as much of a contributing factor as you think.

As you can see, most of the fragments are coming out at an angle, and while this is a howitzer and not an AA gun, the principles are the same. For a comparison of fragment velocity versus muzzle velocity, the German 12.8cm FlaK 40 had a muzzle velocity of only 2,900 feet per second.

what i meant is that u need more propellant to reach these heights, a hit is a hit

Getting there wasn't the issue, the issue was hitting what you're aiming at.

But that is completely irrelevant to the fact the Luftwaffe needed a weapon that would down US bombers fast, not just because they were tough but because those turrets were actually pretty effective, especially while flying in a combat box.

oh, nice to know, u always learn smth new

Yeah, unlike how War Thunder has nerfed bombers into uselessness, they were actually dangerous as fuck unless you knew what you were doing. When the crew of Memphis Belle went home after their 25 combat missions they had a confirmed 8 kills to their name.

"Not to worry, we're still flying half a plane!"

Considering that about half to a third of all heavy bomber losses on a combat mission were to flak (yes, German cities were absolutely festooned with flak to the point something like 80% of all their 88mm FlaK 18/41 guns were devoted to home defense as opposed to the front lines) for the bulk of the war the Luftwaffe could only manage about a 1:1 kill ratio on bombers, things not turning into a War Thunder style slaughter until the 262 and 163 entered service.

tbh i think it'd be healthier for the game to make big fat bombers viable

also didn't the 163 have more crashes than air kills?

Obviously bombers that can drop one giant bomb will always have a place in the game but for the vast majority of bombers to have a point in War Thunder you'd need more complicated objectives and win conditions than just TDM and "kill these randomly generated bases"

This is both extremely racist against a small family company like Gaijin because of their limited resources and extremely racist against Chinese (and other turd worlder) bot farmers which will be unable to make zomber programs that will be able to farm these sorts of objectives.

On the bright side the T-55AMD-1 is getting a much needed nerfbat.

Still nothing for the 2S38 though for some reason.

Ever since they close down the Chinese server I've been encountering more and more chink users with strange high kill death ratio in top tier.
Obviously gaijin won't do jack shit cause they're their piggy bank and the report system sucks ass.
I only play low tier nowadays, its way enjoyable there.
I quit once I hit the 7.7 wall in ground battles. No fucking fun getting uptiered to 8.7 against stabilized dart slingers, which happens constantly.
