Oh, I feel ya. I got a lucky hit on a KT with some Sherman APCR before the changes. That 200+ pen went through the turret front and into the ammo at the back. Guy probably raged but hey, US APCR was godlike. And yeah, never mind that the T29 has less armor and a longer reload than the KT. The fact the Super Pershing is considered anywhere near the KT in terms of quality is a joke. The reload is longer, the pen is worse, the mantlet armor is spotty thanks to the spaced armor and overmatch penalties, and the hull armor is just structural steel with a lovely 0.45x thickness multiplier against KE rounds, making it an active detriment to your survivability by slowing you down while not offering the least bit of protection.
 
I played it and wasn't impressed.

I originally thought that it would be a game where tanks, ships, and planes all took part in the same battle - but actually, it's just 3 separate games, and none of them were very impressive (e.x. I think that WoT is better in the tank department, and there are probably better ship and airplane games as well).

Really depends on what you're looking for in a tank game.

WoT definitely caters more to the e-sports style if that's what you're looking for.
 
i kinda wanna reinstall the game and try to grind out for the t-72s but I know it will be hell and I shouldnt.

Am I in for major culture shock if I reinstall at this late date? I think last time I logged in was 5 years ago, and back then Tier V was the max tier, and the best aircraft was the 20mm GunVal F-86 F2, and the best tank was T-54, and they didn't have playable naval component yet. I still have some good memories of pubstomping with F-86 F2 "rape squads" (sometimes even entire Allied team stacked with multiple F2 rape squads).

we are literally 1 to 2 updates away from modern jets in-game , the Americans have the m1a2 in-game.

And in true Russkie faction its nowhere near as good as it could be. Never mind that all the Russian MBT's get long-rods well before NATO does...

"But-but muh post pen!" cry the Russian tankers as they get over 400mm of pen with composite armor on the T-62M-1 with excellent top speed while the M60A1 RISE Passive gets 342mm of pen and what is for its BR, no armor and no speed.

They need to stop with the fucking retarded pandering and put the tanks by either technological equivalence or rough eras. The Leopard 1 should be fighting the M60 and the T-62. The M48, M47, T-54s of all types, and the Type 61, along with any other Gen 1 MBTs should be in another tier. Russian and German BRs are fucked. The IS-2 1944 is not an analogue to the King Tiger, that'd be more the IS-3.

The light tanks and armored cars in all nations except for reserves (and even then the BT-5/M8 LAC are op for reserve) need to be sent up in br by at least 0.3, so theyre forced to use scouting first and shooting later. The game punishes you for playing carefully and playing slower paced machines, and rewards teams for acting like retards. In particular, the maps and points system encourage lemming trains to one cap.

My Super Pershing and T32 cry out in pain at a split happening. The latter especially since the omnipresent HEAT-FS and APDS at 7.3 utterly ruin its utility. But god forbid the KT meet its match...

For all those curious, I finally managed to unlock the M60 and M103 before Gaijin drove me away. As someone who ground up the US heavy line in WoT, I was especially looking forwards to the latter. But the M60 is just straight up better thanks to sabots, speed, and reload rate, and the reduced armor isn't exactly a detriment when HEAT-FS exists. And unfortunately things didn't look any more enjoyable further up the trees.

while we can all agree that light cars are the spawn of satan, namely the r3, but I'm trying to be somewhat realistic since they did this with the naval trees. I'd love a massive nerf to light vehicles but it wont happen.
 
War Thunder definitely brings the autism in diversity to tanks. I am surprised the Sturmtiger is not mentioned.



 
The thread description could use some updates considering there is a navy game mode, not to mention the game is now using contemporary tanks.

I think because they cared about having actual vehicles in the game instead of inventing them like World of Tanks while having to put in new stuff to the game to keep it fresh. (games like this usually die without content updates, you need to grind for something) The downside is that the game is basically 2-3 games glued together due to the differences in performance and mechanics.
