So, I've watched battle reports every now and then and wondering if I was going to get into this money sink (I have enough expensive hobbies as it is, including painting a half-dozen minis I've somehow acquired) if I was to go Astra Militarium or AdMech. I'm a nut for classic World War I/II shit so I love the tanks but every battle report I've seen of the Astra Militarium has them loose horribly, while AdMech is crazy awesome but I don't know what kind of mechanics they have going for them.

Tanks can't be shut down by melee anymore, and they can move and shoot without hitting on 5+ now. IG is in a better position than it was in a few months ago.

The IG has two world war themed armies but you're free to deco and paint your dudes anyway you wish. AdMech is really neat and I don't like when people describe them as "steampunk" because a) they aren't and b) steampunk sucks.

The best description I've ever heard of AdMech is "They're Skaven in Space." I don't think it necessarily fits, but then again, I don't know anything about the Skaven and Warhammer Fantasy's a dead game, so...

I was about to say "But the Skaven are in Age of Sigmar and The Great Horned Rat was elevated to a Chaos God," then I realized "WARHAMMER FANTASY IS A DEAD GAME" was going to be the retort.

Nah, I wasn't aware that they had actually gotten off their duffs and released updated rules for the Skaven in AoS. Thought it was all about the Sigmarines vs Khorne still.

A good way to look at the AdMech is the grimdark version of the United Federation of Hold My Beer, I got this. The most exotic, esoteric, weird, destructive, and self-destructive stuff known to mankind, all operated by guys who will crack open whatever ancient tech they can get their hands on with few regards for safety or consequences. Even Necron tech. Especially Necron tech. You've got Electro-Priests who have more UNLIMITED POWER than a Senate chamber full of Sith, the Legio Cybernetica who are crazy bastards who operate autonomous murder-bots, Ordo Reductor who worship the Omnissah through EXPLOSIONS, and other fun stuff. Oh, and cyborgs on robo-horses with guns that fire transuranic radioactive bullets and other guns that launch white-hot globs of pure white phosphorus at their foes. They're Fallout 40k, in other words.

Just call them Toaster Fuckers.

If you want a horde army to be your first then all the power to you. Go for a tank company so you have a list you can play before expanding troop numbers if you wanna play IG.

Nagash is actually the central antagonist of AoS 2nd Edition, and the last major campaign didn't feature Sigmarines at all, it was Nagash's newest lieutenant vs. Archaon. It ended with Nagash capturing the Stargate that allowed Chaos to attack his realm, so Archaon was humbled for the first time since Grimgor Ironhide.

Uh

Anybody know what happened to 1d4? It's like fuckin gone. Wiped.
