Reminder that GW literally has made a career out of IP theft for the past 30+ years, they don't have a single property that isn't made up of the best cherry picked ideas of other franchises which they have shoehorned and shoved in, tetris style, into their product.
The one thing is that animator didn't mention people harassing him as far as I can see. The guy claimed he was offered paid work then GW ignored his emails (leading many to believe GW just wanted to shut down these types of fan projects creatively). I don't know why reddit niggers are going with this claim that some crazy fans made him quit. I get the vibe that most current 40k communities are Marvel/Star wars fan tier brain dead where they see their favorite brand as a buddy and anyone disliking or criticizing them is attacking their best friend. I remember being a kid at a Gamesworkshop and the staff would talk on and on about how much the company sucks. I'd imagine those guys would have been smeared on twitter by angry bugmen today for that kind of wrong think.

The latest lore has them creating a stable warp wormhole on accident allowing them to cut across the galaxy, and their entire 4th expansion army that was lost in said wormhole before it stabilized being what appears to be possessed by Khorne. And then the other side of the wormhole turns out to be right in front of a Death Guard fleet, IIRC. And that's all happening at the same time they're realizing their infiltrate and brainwash the Imperials with consumer goods does diddly fuck all to deal with a Genestealer Cult doing the same thing on Imperial Worlds.
Man, if only the Tau could call on a guy who lived for nothing but burning Orks and banishing daemons. And with a giant sword not even Gabriel Seth would want to talk shit about. And... oh... he ended up telling the Ethereals to piss off on account of being a bunch of lying cunts about the Warp and they've since acted in a manner as self-reflective and humble as the Imperium of Man.
4th expansions basically became imperials who want to purge all the xeno filth. I kinda like tau's slow realisation that they are fucked and imperium is right.
NGL, as a Tau fanboy (fuck the new copyrightable spelling) seeing them realize the only way forwards is to just accept the grimdark has been very fun.
I had to look up "kneeling riptide" because I didn't know what that was. Why is Tau shit so gay?
As ironic as it sounds given my avatar, weeb faggotry. Fucking weebs...

The reddit comments make me sad.
There's a few people pointing out with examples that the statement is wrong or at least legally dubious. GW is not required (definitely not under US law, and likely not under UK law) to have to defend their copyright or lose it (trademarks a different story). A few even point out how overly litigious GW has been through the years, and how they're pretty big on borrowing other people's IP...
But most of the comments seem to be: GW is the innocent victim of an unfair system making them do bad things, everyone who disagrees is an evil neckbeard/incel/toxic hater.

I kinda feel there was a perfectly fine middle ground, and that middle ground is what it was already like: fans produce fan-fictions, fan-animations, fan-art etc. and GW just keeps making and selling minis, books and other side products. We have a flourishing fan community that channels their passion into fan projects that help to keep the community engaged and growing and GW benefits by selling more minis and side products.

But I think we all can agree what happened here: GW is opening a streaming service (because that was all the rage a few years ago) and they didn't want to lose out on theoretical money.
GW loves theoretical money you see, back in the day they went after people creating custom shouldepads, the thing is GW weren't making shoulderpads for those armies so naturally the third party shoulderpads weren't cutting into their profits... but theoretically they were losing all that money on a theoretical product they could theoretically be selling. So I think they're afraid that if there's too many free alternatives no-one would be willing to sign up, and so they lose theoretical money again.

Because about two or three hours after Arch (and apparently Majorkill) posted their videos talking about how GW was treating people, using him as an example, he posted this on his community page:

Which gave GW the shield needed to hide behind and use the shills to change the subject.

So YouTube's resident 40k troon made a video on this shit.
At around the 16:15-25 mark heshe says that "Astarte" (pronounces Astar-tay) backed out.

Does heshe mean Syama Pedersen, the Astartes guy or is there another 40k animation YouTube channel simply called Astarte? I tried looking but didn't find anything.

Because if he legit backed out good for him.
Nothing on that yet.

Sounds like cooperate got him to say a few lines. It happens, but they lost any respect they could have gotten from me.
I’ve known of three black guys that got into 40k. Two of them were adopted by nerds and the other got into it while in the army via a friend. I’ve known more latinos and Asians though who were into the hobby. I’ve never seen a black or hispanic woman who was into 40k. I’m sure somewhere out there is one, but it’d be like seeing Bigfoot.
It's always a city by city bases. Here it's white guys/ girls and First Nations men. You maybe able to find one black guy playing but that's rare. Haven't seen Asians or Hispanic people play here but they do get jobs at the store but that doesn't tell you anything. Last Manager they had didn't know a thing about the IP, being a manager or a decent human being. Despite the fact they send you to Austin for training to be a store manager and get PR training.

Looks like someone is fishing for a job on the Warhammer community staff team. I guess upvotes just don’t pay the bills of the terminally online Redditors.

The thing most people aren’t seeing is GW have normies now. Back in the exodus of 6th-7th edition the IP was still arguably unknown. So now GW are free to do whatever they want now.

You know what we missed in that IP guidelines?

GW's new rules bans any artist that uses Patreon from doing 40k art.

It bans any artists taking commissions to draw GW fanart.

It bans any webcomic that has ads on the site or a Patreon.

GW's new rules ban Bolter to Kokoro, of all fucking things.

Edit: Looks like the artists that do 40k commissions are noticing:

Mostly. I need to make sure my brother is cool with me using his 3D printer to print alien muncher pieces from Warhams.

What kind of models/factions do you have?
Mostly everything from the printed warhammer discord, but made my own copy of it so I could add some more...uh...questionably sourced stuff to my collection. I think there might even be some well known paid "alien muncher" 1:1 files in there. Haven't checked in awhile.

Oh shit, that's right.

TTS is an animation, technically. It's now banned by GW.
Even worse TTS uses a GW copyrighted image. They did start switching over to using none official art work (and it was pretty obvious with the drop in quality of the art work) but I believe Big E still uses:

This isn't my favourite depiction of the Emperor as it still gives him a regal and powerful air. one of the older images was better

It show the horrific state the Emperor is in much better, and in my opinion help to give a far more sombre feel not only to the Emperor but also to the Imperium he resides over. I think a lot of the more recent lore has depicted Imperium in far more powerful and united then the older lore has and this to me at least leads to a bit of a disconnect when they tell me the Imperium is is on the brink of collapse but then the artwork and stories depict the Emperor as this literal god, and the space marines and this endless horde of Primaris in shiny new armour bulldozing through waves of xenos and heretics.

Also as you can see in this image the Custodes are in black, which is by the old lore their official colour scheme in 40k, since after the 'death' of the Emperor they wore black as a sign of their failure (some of them also technically cast their armour aside, i.e. where the idea for pillar custodes came from in TTS). But GW kinda retconned that (sort of) because I guess people got to use to the 30K depiction of Custodes being these golden clad warriors... and maybe because many fans don't think of this tortured lump of flesh when they think of the Emperor but they think of the regal skeleton emperor on the throne this imposing figure, surrounded by gold and skulls so the expectation follow that his guards would be the same.

Black custodes would be neat. I honestly find the all gold shit extremely gaudy.
