My problem with finding other wargames is that none of them have factions that I like. It's typically, a noble faction, a lawful neutral faction, a savage faction, and a dark elf equivalent.

I’d say Infinity has a cool faction with Ariadna but with how hard it is to get some units for that faction now it’s kinda sad.

An interesting take on some conscript models for IG:

Reeeeally cheap plastic. Good for blobs.

Buddy convinced me to buy into AdMech last week. I've been putting them together.

I'm trying to get into the video games, and the story. Is there a good place I can go to read about the main story and factions without getting immediately lost?

Probably the Lexicanum as it’s a good compilation of lore with sources so you can go more in depth and know what you are looking for.

Otherwise I would go onto the Warhammer 40k website to get a good summary of the lore.

Any part of Warhammer that you are most interested in?

The story of the emperor and his armies really drew me in. And how they're locked in battle with all these other alien factions. It's a good set up for an army strategy game. I never got into table top games in the past, but I really like the story so maybe that will change.

There are to major "eras" for setting. There is 30k and 40k

30k is before the emperor is crippled. It covers the end of the great crusade, the Horus heresy, and now more recently the siege of terra.

40k pretty much encompasses everything else.

30k is space marine focused, 40k has more variety. Obviously space marines still play a big part.

So how confident are we that people aren't going to be screwed over in trying to Kill Team: Octarius this weekend? I can see the loophole in the wording of the new article: GW guarantees that everyone who preorders will get the box, but who's to say that the ability to preorder to begin with won't still be shut off after the first five minutes?

I've got the necrons spinning too, really I have too much spinning.
I recently took a vacation from the hobby and upon return I’ve decided to build my “OC donut steel” army, complete with lore, custom aesthetic and paint scheme.

So I’m gonna make a Necron dynasty, nobles will be modeled after that metal AF armor from Dracula, in their mortal life they worshipped the Flayer, in their deathless state their mechanical bodies are monuments to the dead god and all dynasty members bear fanged skulls to cement this.

I wanted a “Flayed One” dynasty but didn’t want to do the skin cloaks that we’ve all seen a million times. Instead of the savage angle I went for the decadent/Vampire Court refined savage aesthetic.

Plus I just want to make a Necron Dracula.

You can do something with a c'tan shard.

Iirc they said that preorders will be open for the rest of August.

Just realized my Forgefiend makes little sense in a Purge warband. But oh well.

One of these days I'm going to play a combined Purge/Scourged army, the ultimate blackpill of Chaos.

The only way GW could guarantee everyone who pre orders (from their site) gets a box is if the entire thing is made to order. The main selling point isn’t even the game of kill team itself but the plastic kriegsman and ork commandos, It’s a bit like the last box set which had plastic flayed ones and finally released heavy intercessors.
On the plus side at least the models aren’t push fit.

You can do something with a c'tan shard.
I bought a vampire lord mini, it’s going on a 80mm base for a “counts as Void Dragon” but for lore accuracy and a bit of visual storytelling the C’tan itself is gonna be on a pedestal, visually worshipped by some easy to build Necrons and behind this grandiose altar I’m gonna put a small gold-skinned humanoid doing a “spell casting” pose with the implication that their shard of the Flayer is actually one of the Deceiver.
