Honest opinion needed. How feasible would a death guard list be using six ten man units of plague marines all armed with bolt guns and a Sigil of Decay?

Sigil of decay - Each time an attack is made with a bolt weapon by a model in the bearers unit, an unmodified hit roll of a six automatically wounds the target

I know all weapons can wound on a six regardless but it looks like it could work well along side the Virulent Rounds Stratagem

Virulent Rounds - Use this in your shooting phase , when a death guard core unit is selected to shoot. Until the end of the phase, bolt weapons models in that unit are equipped with have the plague weapon ability.

So hit rolls of a six would wound automatically and because of the plague weapons rule I would also get re rolls on ones for wound rolls for the unit I chose. Don’t have a list as yet just some theory crafting at this time.
It sounds like it would be fun to play, so it probably isn't feasible.

That's 1320 points for a 1/6 chance to auto wound and one unit rerolling wounds on your shooting phase for bolt weapons. Also, each unit can only roll a maximum of 20 dice if they either remain stationary or are within 12" of the target. That is not a great volume of fire and no AP to justify the cost.

The way I have seen plague marines being used is either to run them up in a transport with melee weapons or keep them in the back as objective control.
It sounds like it would be fun to play, so it probably isn't feasible.
Well bugger. Guess I’ll just go with my original idea of a daemon engine list.

Here are the basics of list building I follow when making a list.

First I ask 4 basic question. Do I have an answer for armor? Do I have an answer for infantry? Do I have an answer for elite infantry? And can I play objectives. For a viable list you need to have answers for 3 of these.

Another basic mantra is that you always lean it strengths rather then trying to full in weakness'.

So if I was building a list for my custodes.
Do I have an answer for infantry?
Yes the army is built to kill infantry.
Do I have an answer to elite infantry?
Yes I will have death company/sang guard.
Do I have an answer for armor?
Uh, I'll probably have a redemptor or librarian dread that can handle it sorta.
Can I play objectives?
I'll have to slot in some infiltrators so I can focus on my armies forward strength.

Shared in a chat, this is the new Sigmarine Chapter Master, right? Kind of a quick and dirty and rather neat conversion.

Right on schedule.

Not a Lieutenant, apparently. Sounds more like a Custodes Assassin. Possibly weaker armor than the standard Custodes, or maybe it's just cosmetic.

"Company Champion" equivalent. But still a Custodes, so that's in comparison to a normal Custodes. They said Lieutenant, but kinda tounge in cheek, sounds like they knew that wouldn't have worked well thematically.

Sisters of Silence are now officially back in the 40k. Apparently there is now synergy between the two. If you take a Shield Host of Custodes, you'll get a few bonuses...

Increased rules for things like the Shadowkeepers. They're going to be much more different now, apparently? "Like playing different Space Marine chapters." Some are offensive, some are defensive, etc.

New HQ choice for Sisters Of Silence in the book, "possible to do a SoS army, but you'd be seriously limiting yourself."

Sigmarines + Custodes / Sisters kitbashes were pointed out, so, yeah. That might be why the new HQ Custodes has partial leather armor -- to bring it back so Sigmarines kitbashes look more sane.

GSC will now have much better shooting, apparently. But now instead of using Command Points you can use Power Level or Points for certain things like reserves.

All 3 out before end of the year.

So the lore of the box is a Genestealer cult on terra has become a large enough threat that the custodes have to deal with it. Which hive fleet is closest to terra in the lore at this point?

New Bloodbowl spinoff. Dungeonbowl. Bloodbowl x Heroquest?

They actually said which GSC it was specifically, but I don't recall. Are the canonical GSCs tied to a specific fleet?

But yeah in the 8E Custodes codex they mentioned offhand a GSC cult was on Terra, but apparently it's gotten very powerful very quickly, enough to get the Custodes to step in.

I don’t enough about GSC but i’m pretty sure when they start the revolt they let off some kind of psychic beacon to alert nearby fleets that lunch is served.

Well all that amounted to a big nothing-burger...

At least we get a santa-gobbo on a bouncing squig for Christmas this year.

Duncan put Two Thin Coats up for post-pledging, if you missed the kickstarter.

I wish that Duncan would just post this comparison chart while pledges are still available as color matching to other paint ranges (namely Citadel) is a very big point of consideration in my buying decision. From what I can tell, there aren't even any existing comparison charts online that are up to date with the current Citadel line, missing newer paints like Corvus Black.
