My expectations were fucking low, I heard that we would get a character on stilts and I thought "So we are getting some kind of sicarian/pteraxii leader ok lame but usefull, or if were getting crazy maybe an Ironstrider character". But this, this is such fucking shit that I could not even consider it as an option. I have already seen high magnitude cope from people saying we will get more because they heard that there will be more necron models when Imotekh was previewd and they delude themselves into thinking that would apply to us newsflash retard you play admech you will get a dogshit 35 dollar character and you will be happy, the last one we got was the marshal who at least looks cool but he was the only model we got in 9th and they think we are getting anything more then this garbage.

The shooting profile is just depressing, the damned things name is skatros that really does just sum it up.

Is GW randomly generating weapon profiles now? What the fuck is the point of the Scat rifle? Even if it isn't ideal the Radium Jezzail can at least pick off cheap leaders, but what the fuck is D3 damage on a 4+ going to to do monsters and vehicles?

I don't have a fucking clue and if I understand correctly this is a character so we get at best 3 of them, in short the only reason to use this thing would be objective runner if this abomination ends up being cheaper then an assassin.

I'm quoting from the community page:

"Equipped with either a radium jezzail for popping INFANTRY or a transuranic arquebus for penetrating the armour of VEHICLES and MONSTERS, the Skatros is an exemplary marksman. Its Achillan Eye zeroes in on vulnerable quarry, providing re-rolls for Wound rolls against its favoured targets."

Popping infantry ? with one damage 3 shot, what fucking infantry am I supposed to shot with this thing ? and I love shooting at vehicles using at best 2+BS and wounding on 4+ with 2ap and random damage, also am I missing some unit but when would anyone need PRECISION if they are shooting at vehicles and monsters or is this supposed to be a " nice " bonus.

Another great thing is that since it has heavy by default imperatives are made even worse.

"Counter-sniping this elevated assassin is a futile effort. The Stealth and Lone Operative abilities will keep it alive and kicking – and with legs like those, kicking is a real threat."

Obviously you run 3 of them to attempt to snipe Old One Eye.

The only way I could possibly see this unit being useful is if they go wild and make it battleline so you can run 6 of them and even that would be a stretch.

Warhammer 40k: Inquisitor- Martyr is 90% off on Steam. The complete edition is $9.

Is this worth checking out?
For 10 bucks, I'd say it's worth it if you're into the setting (you're here, you obviously are) and enjoy Diablo-like ARPGs. The camera controls took me a bit to get used to. I haven't touched it in quite some time, but the game seems to have made some improvements over the years.

On topic of WH40K video games, I finally got a chance to play Darktide now that it's available on Game Pass. From what I've seen, I picked up good time to experience it fresh since the recent skill tree patch added a bit of variety into playstyles, along with a lot of weapon tweaks for the better.

I've gotta say, the environments and the atmosphere of Darktide are top-notch. The scale of the background imagery (especially the forge worlds, my god) feels appropriate and honestly are just a beauty to stop and look at. The soundtrack is also a banger.

I wish there were more decent WH40K games. WH40K has an autisticly large pool of lore to get inspirations from that aren't Ultramarines and it should be capitalized on more.

Darktide was a monumental disappointment for me, and the recent changes to how talents work is a drop in the bucket of issues that need addressed. Vermintide 2 is on sale for $6 right now. I'd go that route first.

It's amazing how something so minimal as painting an Ultramarine's trim yellow (in the fashion of the Old Ones) instead of gold makes me hate them significantly less.
The yellow trim compliments the blue better then gold imo but it probably depends on what company they play as I distinctly remember red and green trim as well.

Okay. I got the Leviathan box as our introduction to the game. She picked Tyranids and I got Space Marines. We built the stuff, learned the game and have done a few battles using our imaginations to turn the bar and the pool table into a battlefield.

We really like the game. So where do we go now?

I like the Space Marines but aren't necessarily married to them. A local store has a neat Blood Angels box that looks a few years old. Can I use them? Are they technically a different force? How should I build my army? And what of my wife? She likes the Tyranids a lot. Should we both just grab a set we like and see what happens?

Any advice or random thoughts would be appreciated. I should pick a faction and stick with it for now, right?

Yeah, the Blood Angels are completely different than the Marines that you've just got. But they have stuff like the Baal Predator and the retarded Librarian Dreadnaught.

How should I build my army?
Depends on whether or not that you'll invest in getting the new Primaris marines. But you'll certainly need an contingency or two for armor and going for plasma is an bit risky. Bottom line is that there's plenty of options, but going all in with Assault Marines isn't always going to work.

And what of my wife? She likes the Tyranids a lot.
Nids are an bit of an keystone army; kind of depends on which of the large.monsters that she has.

But it's certainly cheaper to just stick with one or two factions after doing some research on how to piss people off

Right now... I mean they are both pretty big and annoying. She has a Psychophage and a Screamer-Killer.

The idea (and budget) is that we will each get one big thing and three small things or two medium for the time being.

I would like a third faction eventually but will flesh out my Space Marines for now. The Infiltrator and Aggressor unit packs both looked interesting to me.

*That Invictor Tactical Warsuit is pretty fucking slick. I want two...

Might be worth getting some gaunts to take advantage of it's AoE ability.

and a Screamer-Killer.
Yeah, that's gonna piss off an lot of people if she has an way to get it close to anything. Might be worth fielding an actual Tyrannofex if you can afford the points for it.

Aggressors might be one of the few Primaris units that are outclassed by Terminators, unless into investing in mechanized warfare. But be sure to pick up some Hellblasters, so you can even the odds against your girlfriend's bug army

I went and married her. Can I get a nuke??
Nope. Exterminatus only happens in the lore.

The guard have the Deathstrike Missile Launcher that is niche and when translated to the table top doesn't feel like a nuke but in the lore it is called a intercontinental ballistic missile with a warhead of mass destruction, only issue is that unless you play crusade Imperial "soup" armies are not allowed by the rules anymore.

Any factions you guys recommend we avoid? Or are they all mostly worthwhile?
Models last, rules don't. Most things will have their turn being good at some point, so go with what you like.

That said, if you have a burning competitive streak and care about how things are right now, you can get stats here, and while viability may vary, playstyles do tend to remain similar, so look at things with a general approach that appeals to you.

Second @NerdShamer's suggestion on more gaunts and a Tyrannofex for your wife's army. Gaunt swarms are bread and butter for Tyranid armies, though there are detachments like Crusher Stampede and Assimilation Swarm that focus on the big bugs. I was watching a Tyranid vs. Deathwatch game at the local GW store recently and the 'Nid player's Tyrannofex shot down the Deathwatch guy's Corvus Blackstar, fucked up one of his kill-teams, and was still on the board by the end of the game despite getting some major firepower thrown at it. Definitely worth having no matter your army composition. Does she like the more shooty bugs or does she prefer to run up the table and get into melee?

As far as Space Marines go, I'd say just read up on some chapters, pick one you like in terms of playstyle and lore, and go from there. If you like the look of Blood Angels, go for Blood Angels. If you read more and realize that Raven Guard, Salamanders, or White Scars are your thing, then choose them. If none of them really appeal to you in the end, make up your own chapter and just have fun with it. The meta will always be changing based on codex power creep, White Dwarf articles, FAQs, and WAACfags finding new rule exploits, so trying to chase it is an expensive and tiring proposition. It's best to find what you personally enjoy and stick with it.
