Is "Grimdark future" a hint towards some fan alt-ruleset?
Yep, as I said in the post above. It's a Warhammer clone from One Page Rules. It's a unified rulset so you can run Fantasy against 40K armies if you want to.

Not a fan of grimdark future there is simple and fun then being too simple in my book.

Suffice it to say
theres something inherently more terrifying about Warhammer Fantasy compared to Warhammer 40k
i mean Warhammer 40k, you could still have tanks and giant mechs to protect you, along with being able to flee a planet...

but Fantasy, you have bows and arrows and muskets against Daemons towering walls.
and Sneaky Ratmen suprise analling you from within the city whilst you're preoccupied at the sieging forces.

I'm learning the photography so that it can look good instead of me just putting future projects on top of dressers or some shit

Yea but the giant tanks are paper to most things in 40k and you have to be lucky and be on an actual planet with the giant mechs. Not to mention that the giant mechs get mogged all the time by bands of green retards. Your planet can also get mogged outright without there even being a fight. Also magic in fantasy is a lot more stable then psyker power.

Valoris is on a lot of lists I've seen, and since Custodes aren't available locally, might as well grab him. (FLGS might be forced to carry them, since they do the GW "recommended" stock list to get the discount.)

Loving this color scheme and I might ape it.

Vallejo Metal Color Gold "overbrushed" over Chaos Black (apparently this means just "don't worry about getting in the recesses"), Washed with Seraphim Sepia, Dry Brushed with Runefang (bright silver), then washed with Agrax Earthshade Gloss. Only thing I'm missing is the Vallejo Metal Color Gold.

It’s a simple enough colour scheme to knock them out in no time whatsoever.

A white background is always good but maybe a spotlight over the top would help.

Anyone familiar with any of the Green Stuff World paints?

Looking at the Candy Inks for maybe using over Silver for gemstones, and their color shifters for effects like power swords.

fair enough, it's just that like half the time I hear people complain about warhammer or it's rules the easiest fix would be to try something else. basically "have you tried not playing DND" in wargaming form. there's nothing wrong with using different rules if you just want to push painted dudes into each other (same way there's nothing wrong with preferring official rules, different strokes and all), but no redshirt is gonna storm basements demanding to only play X minis with Y rules.
there's also this weird notion that just because it has the official GW logo on it this suddenly means they are the bestest and greatest rules out there without even considering alternatives (imo no IGOUGO alone puts it above GW rules). it's like whining about kill team when something like stargrave or even GF firefight exists.
granted I might have developed an allergic reaction over time since all my social circle wants to play is "official" rules, but then they are not above trying to file off and houserule shit constantly because "it's not balance/not fun" or outright "it would be better (for me)", and that's on top of getting rules wrong all the time, either intended or from lack of english proficiency, so for those fuckers simple rules would be a godsend, just to give them less wiggle room for WAACfagging.

heck might as well try mantic, if you can play GW rules with forbidden non-gw minis just go the other way and play deadzone/firefight/warpath with GW minis. never tried battle of antares so not sure how adaptable the rules would be (kinda itching to try it with castnplay's nebula figures tho).

personally these days I simply prefer the separation of responsibility, on one end I have people doing rules with the focus on being balanced and still fun (even if a bit simple), on the other a company trying to push plastic crack on me.

Balance update is out, fair amount of changes. All knights have obsec and count as 5 or 10 models depending on the size. Vehicle spam for Orks got tuned down and flyer spam for everyone is restricted to 1/2/3 in 1000/2000/memecalypse points games. Admech and Drukhari went up in points and more.
Knights are still a meme tier army, right? At least until they get their 9th codex?
