I got punked though in my Chaos campaign by having my rank 3 leader get fucked up by a spell backfiring, and then failing the post battle roll and dying. Also had a guy who was being built into a two hander specialist mutant and develop a giant razor claw for an arm, which on anyone besides a two hander specalist would be great....

Sod's law a bitch like that. Anybody else buying into the "Horus Heresy" box? If the tac marines had earlier Mk. armour I'd consider it but they look just like bog standard marines of 40k.

our sculpting skill is impressive- have you seen the 'grot rebellion'?
I have seen the grot rebellion but wanted mine to be more in scale with the standard grot models (most of the grot rebellion seems to be based on fantasy goblins & imperial guard parts which although they look great are kind of beefy alongside 40k grots) and commanded by da orkz still (Zogrod Wartsnagga and his super grots from 2nd ed. were my biggest inspiration).

Whenever i'm feeling lethargic or am in need of inspiration i kit bash a Mekboy, currently i have around 15 of them, this is my latest; he loves his dakka.

I have at least two more on the go and they are actually starting to interfere with my other projects... help.

It's nice to see an ork player who knows how to kit bash and convert. Some stuff I've seen is just god awful.

People think kitbashing orks is easy but honestly, you can't just throw a load of bits onto a model with little or no forward planning and expect it to work because it's the ork way, see below, this buggy is actually built from the remnant of a looted tank i decided i hated and broke down for parts.

your conversions are really cool, what is your warboss like?

So in preparation for the AoS tourney last weekend I made a few tweaks to my army.
I converted another giant

and added another shaman this one based on the necromancer model- i like it better:

So my list for the tournament was 20 savage orcs, 2 savage orc shaman, 1 orge butcher, 2 giants and 5 trolls. The tournament used the missions from the aos book and balanced via sudden death for armies with less models and laurels proportional to wounds. This actually worked really well, the fellow who brought an army of dragon ogres lost every game!

my list seemed pretty fair- I won one game, drew the second (on a single roll of a 4+ I'd have won grrr) won the third and lost the fourth placing 7/25. In each game I scored a respectable number of Laurels (VPs) although I am going to be making a few changes. As I said the game does have a tactical dimension but it revolves around tying units up, careful synergies and planning for the unpredictability of the priority rolls within the turn sequence. The game I drew I rolled very poorly for priority however careful positioning allowed me to tie up 4 units of fancy khornate infantry with 20 orcs in a long shieldwall. buffs from the shamans gave them a 4+ rerollable and FNP so the held for most of the game while my giants fought his bloodcrushers and characters. I'm still struggling with planning to compensate for loss of priority and that cost me the win as his light cav were able to sweep round and assassinate my characters for a draw.

Bearing in mind that I'd only played two games previously I'm pretty happy with my performance however I'll make some tweaks to the army for the next month i think.

for the first month of the campaign games are restricted to 30 models 0-3 heroes, 0-1 warmachine, 0-1 monster So I'll have to drop a giant for november at least. this seriously weakens the offensive power of the army which relies on buffed orcs as an anvil and the giants and trolls as a hammer. In order to compensate I'll adjust the force from a traditional shieldwall into a proper raiding party- 10 savage orc boar riders have the same number of wounds as my 20 warriors however they have +50% attacks. replacing the twenty with ten allows me to trigger sudden death win conditions against the standard 30 model list most people will bring. It also gives me a highly mobile army that should be able to pick and choose which parts of an enemy army to engage. With a single objective like kill x all that's needed for victory and with my army only losing one giant in exchange for these much easier objectives, major victories should be much easier.

I've converted the first five:

You can actually see my warboss in the background as a massive khaki blob in the warbuggy pic, i've actually started favouring my bigmek though recently so i can bring along the relic Kustom Force Field in a blob of 30 boyz with a painboy and a few spare meks to take challenges, i sometimes give them all 'eavy armour when i want an hilarious bullet sponge to draw my opponents fire away from my smaller, specialist units.

I'll see if i can post up a propper pic of my warboss when i get home.

Very nice fantasy army btw! i'm looking to start up a forest goblin/ slaanesh force around a spider-demon prince, as soon as i find the time and money that is.

Your awesome warboss shall be purged along with your cool as fuck conversions beneath the might of the Auxilia! Who are getting a kitbashed Sentinel soon... and a Baneblade.... so there, yeah. Didn't think about that did you. Filthy Xenos.

The current Ork codex is the only thing Matt Ward's smurfs can beat.

They've gone grey with fear the pansies. Your warboss is cool though. He needs a grunt swinging about in that crows nest.

That is some nice scratchbuilding and kitbashing dude, seriously impressed. Thats the one thing I envy about Ork players, when it comes to Kitbashing, the more ramshackle it looks, the better it looks.

I've played since 2nd ed. and always been Orks, people ask "don't you get tired of 'em" and i always reply "how?".

Ork lore is the most play friendly in the game, there's not much you couldn't get away with; i do think that the current ork range is a bit too generic however and has a few hilariously out of date models, look at fast attack for example, the wartrakk is the same one that was released with Gorkamorka back in 97, the buggy is even older and the weapon it mounts was originally a multimelta - which Orks no longer have access to).

Just to prove i don't just make tanks here are some boyz i've been working on:

20151108_154509.jpg

Here's my first squad of Kommandos, i plan to have two because BLOODAXE 'TILL I DIE!

20151108_154552.jpg

I 've already got two boss nobz to lead them.

20151108_154032.jpg

Finally i've been working on tank bustas complete with 'uge nob.

They're fantastic dude, really impressive conversion work. My first major conversion is going to be a mashup of cadians and bretonian knights to make 5 mounted Auxilia Roughrider with a standard bearer. Horses in 40k dude, gotta be done.

No way? I bought a set of questing knights and cadians last week to do exactly this! Great minds eh?
