Well I'd argue that Ku'Gath would of turned the primaris into walking plague bags if wasn't for that literal emperor possessed priest, Plus Rotigus and Typhus kind of fucked him over in the first place, though that was arguably because of smelly moth man disobeying nurgle.
Yeah thinking on it Mortarion essentially betraying nurgle didn't exactly help. Also guilleman lighting the garden of nurgle on fire was retarded

I've been wondering recently, everyone likes to throw around the idea of spes marines are the most popular army on the table. But does anyone know if that's partly because people consider every chapter as part of the faction (how many chapters are playable even), or is the list of popular armies just cluttered by the smurfs and half a dozen other chapters.

So question, are there Primaris terminators? I don't think there are. But I'm pretty sure that there are Primaris only Dark Angels successor chapters, do those chapters have a deathwing company if there are no Primaris terminators? Is there lore on this or am I off base?

I still think it's funny that Mortartion's reaction to Big E calling him out for a spanking is to hide in Nurgle's house behind the sofa until Rowboat Girlyman leaves.

Gravis armor is kinda the same thing, albeit a bit less tanky I think. I think they haven’t done that much for dark angels specifically on that because our favorite paranoid fucks have separate model lines from the base marines and having a fuckton of terminators is kind of the big thing with the deathwing.

Apperantly Dark Imperium hints at Imperium Secundus being revealed to the wide imperium.
Honestly I never got why it should have counted as a massive betrayal when it went away once the warp storm around Ultima Segmentum faded.

Not like he had much of a choice though considering Nurgle essentially dragged him in for a beating for disobeying his orders to fight Tzeentch's forces & abandon the Ultramar campaign

This sounds like wank.
It is, Guilleman became possessed by Big E & used his sword to light the Garden of Nurgle after chasing Mortarion through the warp.

This sounds like wank.
I took it more like a TTS tier moment since it didn't really do anything aside from scaring the garden and give anything connected to it an mild pain the won't go away and was more of Emps possessing girlyman to just give nurgle a metaphoric and psychic middle finger.

Honestly I never got why it should have counted as a massive betrayal when it went away once the warp storm around Ultima Segmentum faded
Tell that to the dark angels.

Because it delayed the legions involved and almost definitely caused the Emperor's not-death.

There's a reason when the Custodes found out they created a special chamber of the Custodes dedicated to hunting down traitors, betrayers, and the disloyal, the Dankanatoi.

The Dankanatoi was a chamber of the Custodian Guard founded during the last days of the Horus Heresy.[1]

One of the founders was Diolos Akrodius, who was wounded in the Battle of Signus Prime and pledged to eradicate all treachery from the Imperium upon learning of the then-dismantled Imperium Secundus. As such, the Dankanatoi was a force dedicated to hunting down and exterminating traitors wherever they could be found. They were active during the Great Scouring, hunting down the traitors as they fled Terra.[1]
Diolos Akrodius was a member of the Custodian Guard during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy, more precisely of the Vanek-Aeterna Sodality and the Dankanatoi.[1]

Originally a member of the Ephoroi, Akrodius was part of the Custodes force attached to the Blood Angels during the Signus Campaign. During the fighting, he was wounded as all of his brothers were slaughtered by Daemons during the defense of the Red Tear. In the aftermath of the battle, the wounded Custodian was kept ignorant of Imperium Secundus aboard the Red Tear. Upon returning to Terra he finally learned of what had transpired in Ultramar and was determined not to rest until every last hint of treachery was expunged from the Imperium.[1]

Akrodius would go on to be the first representative of a newly founded chamber of the Custodes active during the final years of the Heresy, the Dankanatoi.[1]
Nothing Horus and his allies did pissed the Custodes enough to create a special squad dedicated to hunting traitors down. The Ultramarines and their little "backup Imperium" was enough to cause someone who was barely alive after a demon attack to decide to grab his Guardian Spear and dedicate the rest of his life to bastard hunting.

Not black armor, although you'd probably be forgiven if you just used black. Iridescent green/purple with purple cloth and golden/brass filigree. Fucking badass paint scheme. I haven't found a shifters paint that I think would work for this, but I think Turbodork's Shell Shocked might be close: https://turbodork.com/products/shell-shocked

Depends on if you can use Nuln Oil on top of it to bring the brightness down.

It's pretty funny the White Scars had pretty much the same thing happen to them during the heresy (think it was the terran half that rebelled) and they just dealt with it and ignored it, rather than be little bitches and cause massive amount of damage just so nobody will think they are untrustworthy.

Didn't the Blood Angels immediately went to terra after the ruinstorm was over, with Dark Angels and Ultramarines in tow? In general it's pretty bullshit accusations unless there was a huge time gap between the storm ending and the Smurfs moving their ass to Terra, the only alternative was basically having multiple legions risking the storm and getting nearly wiped out crossing it.

Bit of both. At some point during their time playing everyone I know had some flavour of Marine army be it home brewed or a cannon chapter. A lot of the time it’s people’s first faction since they push the starter set on new players in store.

They didn't even wait for the Ruinstorm to be over. Once they realized that Curze's prediction of death-by-Culexus meant the Emperor was still alive and Terra was still standing, they took off immediately and punched their fleets straight into the storm.

I am amused as hell to see alternatives like that show up. It makes me want to take up Blender and start my own Forge World Anvil Station Imitorus, where glorious Adeptus Mechanicus Impetratus Ingeniarius work on Power armor Augmented Battle Suits, going as far back as the rev β, used during the Glorious March, to the unofficial rev ε, which was used during the Final Dissent of the Warmaster.

Basically take the descriptions of the various marks of Power Armor from 1d4chan and the other wikis and recreate them without looking at the originals. Maybe Imitorus's "thing" will be using lots of triangles in their variants of Augmented Battle Suits.
makers cult might've already done what you're looking for. didn't like them much at first, then I saw a whole feudal guard army painted and slowly shifted over. now I'm so used to their kinda "chunky" marine design normal ones feel off somehow. also they've been doing death corps right from the start, so you know they have good taste. anvil does digital too now, some might already know them since they sell physical units as well.
only thing I haven't found an alternate for are sisters, OPR has some but they didn't really WoW me. raging heroes has damn fine ones (crimson redeemers), but only in resin (and they apparently said they have no plan to sell STLs of their existing lines and they mostly do fantasy - although they did eldar last year so, who knows).

Five Parsecs from Home is a very good solo game. Sorta fills the Necromunda shaped hole in my heart.
mainly play it coop if I don't want to get into sweaty competitions. can't wait for 5 leagues, always preferred fantasy more for that, and might finally be able to play rangers of shadow deep too.
also could've sworn there was a necromunda alternate floating around, but can't find it right now. or I'm confusing it with 5core/5hammer...

maybe one of those works:

Yeah, I have one of the Shifters sets. They're very bright, and I haven't tested using nuln oil / nuln oil gloss on top of them to bring the brightness down. They do, however, make fucking amazing power weapon and plasma coil effects.

The catch being is that they're not paint, they're far more similar to nail polish or liquid latex, and it's very very hard to work with. A single bur or imperfection in the shifter paint going down can result in the entire thing peeling off the model. Things like the pointed end of a power sword, or the paint drying a bit while you're brushing it on, for example.

Anyone still play GWs older systems? I just started a new Gorkamorka gang and would love to have an Epic 40k army.

I’m looking into older editions and specialist games as alternatives. Battle fleet gothic would be my go to since x wing has all but gone down hill since 2nd edition.
Mordheim still has my interest and I look at the 54mm inquisitor game every now and again.

what's so bad about it? haven't followed it in years, just know they kinda rebooted it at some point. you could try wings of glory if it doesn't have to be scifi.

They released “upgrade kits” and new damage decks which invalidated every card released from 1st ed and 1.5 ed. You had to buy a separate upgrade kit for each faction which also came with new movement dials since they changed how ships moved. They overhauled the entire game for no reason and they’re doing the same again with 3rd ed. They’ve now changed the entire points and initiative system so you roll off for who goes first each round.
Epic scale games have seemingly been forgotten so if you bought large scale ships like the imperial raider you can forget about using that anymore. New points costs have also been released for ships and I don’t k ow if this is a new thing but there is actually a banned list now of cards. I thought Fantasy Flight was bad enough but the parent company Atomic Mass Games is way worse.

I had a blast playing that game and it was fast overtaking 40K for me to the point I was considering selling up my armies but Fantasy Flight did what Fantasy Flight does.
