They released “upgrade kits” and new damage decks which invalidated every card released from 1st ed and 1.5 ed. You had to buy a separate upgrade kit for each faction which also came with new movement dials since they changed how ships moved. They overhauled the entire game for no reason and they’re doing the same again with 3rd ed. They’ve now changed the entire points and initiative system so you roll off for who goes first each round.
Epic scale games have seemingly been forgotten so if you bought large scale ships like the imperial raider you can forget about using that anymore. New points costs have also been released for ships and I don’t k ow if this is a new thing but there is actually a banned list now of cards. I thought Fantasy Flight was bad enough but the parent company Atomic Mass Games is way worse.

I had a blast playing that game and it was fast overtaking 40K for me to the point I was considering selling up my armies but Fantasy Flight did what Fantasy Flight does.
I'll agree that its because the games are going to shit but for me its been more the fact that can't convince anyone to play a star wars game anymore since they people who used to play views star wars as a dead brand. The amount of people still play in x-wing, armada, and legion makes the people who still buy the star wars comics seem like a huge and active community rather then a few verified twitter shills.

They could always try and nab the average disney consumer, I thought. Then I remembered the drooling retards can't read, much less pay attention to a game that isn't flashing bouncing shapes on their ipads.

Finished reading The Infinite and the Divine. Overall it's a great book, but not something I'd put anywhere near the top of novels. Having the Necrons as main characters is a nice change, and Orikan and Trazyn are both entertaining and have great chemistry together. The portrayal of Necron's "culture" post metal skeletons is pretty neat, like having operas that span years (since no one needs a break), and being incredibly bearucratic (which was probably the state even before that).
My main issues with the book is that there's not a lot of tension, you only have two main characters who are in the tabletop game so now one is going to bite the bullet, and, like the usual, having potential massive race spanning consequences in the book means that absolutely nothing will fucking happen. The last chapters also feel way too much like something the MCU would do.
Also big spoiler problem I have: The epilogue happens at least 500 years after the fall of Cadia, so that means that unless the setting will go through another 3 decades then there will likely never be a conclusion to the cliff hanger.

if it makes you feel better, modern FFG is reduced to cranking out cardgames and hardly anything else. their other stuff has been moved and consolidated at other companies (like their RPGs are now done by edge, minis by atomic mass etc.). they're also woke, not wotc level or in your face about it, but it still made the new descent a bit tiring with their special snowflake characters.
they also got bought by asmodee in 2014, so can't really blame FFG. they're now part of embracer (yes, the videogame corp), which usually has a pretty good handling of their videogames, remains to be seen how and if it translates over to the boardgames.

all I remember from x-wing was that at some point they sold of all their old models for super cheap (think it was when 2.0 came out), which I always found a bit silly - just buy the plastic for cheap and proxy the new cards (and even the dials are just cardboard chits iirc). no idea what the plan behind that was.
just looked and they're the same doing the marvel mini game which a lot of people seem to shill, dunno if it's because MUH CAPESHIT or being a legit good game.

you could try wings of glory, it's the original ffg borrowed the system from. ww1/war of the worlds might go over better than star wars. no idea how available it's gonna be, especially in the US (they're italian). apparently covid forced them to wait and look for another factory, which seems to be solved now so it's not dead at least.

I hate Star Wars Legion for the number of cards you need to have for shit. Id also kill for the bigger walkers to be made for that game but it would be impossible for them I bet.

I like the general concept of Legion and I love my little clone army, but playing it does kinda suck for that reason.

I regret not attaching the other branches to the tree when I primed it as my painting handles they’re stuck to keep falling down.

I like the detailing on the holster. Are you going for like a hand-stitched look?

I'm actually pretty excited for this one. The only thing we really know about the Galaspar campaign is that it probably would have made Angron go "whoa, dude, chill out", so it'll be interesting to see how they portray it.

Yeah. Since DA are based on native Americans I thought it would suit them better then a clean edge highlight.

If we're allowed to share YouTube videos, found this guy recently and he seems to be somewhat funny as apposed to someone like majorkill though depending on your thoughts on the later that might be a low bar and I've only seen a few of his videos so the rest might be dog shit

I've been very surprised at how shroud-runners seemingly work, in tandem with guide/Farseer. I think having two units for quick objective nabbing will be a good investment pointswise, plus the model looks freaking cool.

Is anyone familiar with the Gotrek and Felix series and know if it's worth getting into.
I've been hearing it talked about recently and I might trying picking up the first book in the series unless there's a better place to start.

It's really good and keeps getting better with each book (until the main writer quit). As a way to know the WH Fantasy world it's alright. Felix might as well be an audience avatar considering he went from a middle class rich boy to adventurer.

"The only thing worse than <current thing>, is elves." Trees, boats, water, etc.

Not that Gotrek is wrong, although there's a somewhat humorous part in Giantslayer where the mere mention of something as detestable as ELVISH BOATS causes him to practically stroke out with anger on the spot.
