tbh I saw a bunch of those during my research and all of them were too heavily adorned with tsons iconography and bits to my liking. I prefer my 10,000 year old war machine to look almost exactly like it did at the burning of prospero except for the colors. Adding a bunch of lord of of change bits or other stuff is just lame to me. I almost added a script decal to the right side of the body but went against it because it would just be too busy.
Unrelated: I am re-reading my two Ciaphas Cain anthologies and remain with the opinion that they are really quite enjoyable. I keep meaning to read the Gaunts Ghosts series as well, which I've heard positive things about.

It's hard to follow all the conversations since I'm so new to the game, but what advice do people have for building 500pt armies? I have enough models to cover 1000pts but my friends don't yet, and most resources I've found for building armies don't really cover games that small. I've heard that avoiding relics and wargear on your HQ is preferable because there's not enough models on the battlefield to benefit at that level.
I've come up with a few lists but have no idea how viable they are. I play Necrons and will mostly be playing against Thousand Sons, Orks, and Grey Knights.
HQ: Overlord with resurrection orb and voidscythe
Troops: 20x Necron Warriors w/ gauss reapers
Fast: 6x Scarab Swarm
HQ: Royal Warden w/ veil of darkness
Troops: 5x Immortals w/ tesla carbines
13x Necron Warrios w/ gauss reapoers
Fast: 3x Scarab Swarm
Heavy: Canoptek Doomstalker

The entire set of the Armypainter Speedpaints are $99. (Although apparently the Speed Paints have an issue where painting over them will re-activate the paint, causing the pigment to bleed up into the newer layers.)

You can upgrade to orb into a relic orb
A patrol detachment requires 1 hq and 1 troops
The new warzone restricts the number of cp, but if you dont care about being up to date, then it doesnt matter (though it has all the juicy necron buffs)
lastly battlescribe makes a lot of mistakes, make sure to double check.
You’ll be better off dropping the cultists, poxwalkers for more plague marines. Same with the plagueburst crawler they took a bit of hit with the balance sheet with the -1 to hit now.
The poxwalkers might be able to do some work depending on the objectives, and if you use the strategems/abilities to get them back up; though it is weird that he has no plague marines.
