Sound like something someone who doesn't have enough dakka would say, dakka envy is a natural thing for non-orks though so don't feel bad.

After a long dark winter i have very few painted vehicles and lots built but i'll see if i can post up a few new pics when i get home.

Last model i finished is my concept for a bloodaxe shoota boy, i have another 29 or so waiting to be painted.

That's some seriously impressive work dude, it looks bloody amazing, you know... for an Ork.

Honestly they should just give their tanks to the orks, it'd give them that much more time to dig trenches and wait for the Spess Marines to come while they load them up with dakka and weld spiky bitz to them.

You mean the Smurfs who drop in and steal all the credit from the real soldiers of the guard at the last minute. :roll:

The Ultramar Auxila are guards, they're just better trained, better equipped, better fed, better looked after and generally better.

Eh, that's just because the fluff writers played Smurfs when they wrote the books. They are literally the Wesley Crusher or Scrappy Doo of the 40k world.

The Imperial Guard does a fine job defending the Imperium considering the entire universe conspires to kill them. Not just the enemy either, they also fight space travel, their commanding officers' incompetence, administration, bureaucracy, supply problems, terrible food, and absurd rules and regulations.
 
Except that time when they released a C'tan star lord who is raping the galaxy by eating stars and fucking with people's dreams.

That was a hilarious blunder.

Or when they got fucked in the ass by Leviathan?
 
Didn't they also lose their entire 1st Company to Behemoth as well?

I'd like to start playing Warhammer 40k at some point. I like the lore but have not had chance to play yet. I just need two things- money to buy the stuff and people to play with.

Yep. They so couldn't take the idea of losing Papa Smurf to a Bug Gargamel that they fed themselves to it to allow others to take what should become Drednought material back. But because the authors who write the fluff play what should just be Romano-Greek style allrounders, he's instead a man who can now Imperial Fist people at will with his fuck-off hueg robo arms.

And these guys make up half of all chapters because again, the writers played them. Err, I mean, they have probably the most stable geneseed and their allroundedness is more useful. Even though lesser chapters do worse because reasons.

They also decided to blow up an almost impossible to replace ancient Battleship rather than use strategic movement to destroy the army of locusts. Or a giant canister of Hellfire/Promethium/Oxygen either.
 
Basically, Ultramarines are beloved by twelve-year olds and Matt Ward. Real men play Guard or better Marines like the Imperial Fists or Iron Snakes.
