There's nothing more frustrating then magnetizing your miniatures only to run out of magnets.
I ordered more, but talk about inconvenience.
I'm going to be cutting metal soon and I don't want cut up my hands, what's the best gloves to use?
Depends on what you're doing but go with cow leather if you want to be safe.

Looking for advice. I've really gotten into magnetization, especially for Leman Russes.

For magnetizing the side sponsons, is there a good way of hiding the magnets if you've already glued up the whole hull?

I tried smoke launchers but they aren't large enough (need to cover a 5mm diameter)

(I know the proper technique is to put magnets inside the hull but I got this one prebuilt on ebay).

Can you post a picture of what you're trying to do? Maybe you can dig a little divot and cover it up a little with green stuff or something?

Just thinking about how to cover the magnet since it does look pretty ugly on the Hull. I do own some green stuff. Maybe I could build a little cap and attach it to a smoke launcher to hide them.

I can't paint it since the sponson magnet will just strip it off.

When I get time I'll show you guys the magnetisation I've been doing on other tanks. It's really satisfying and really not too hard. IG tanks are the perfect things to practise on since they are super forgiving if you mess up the drilling, or need to cut into them to remove a magnet put in the wrong way (yes I am that dumb).

Sorry for the double post but I want to separate these.
Oh, GW. Sabotaging your own product before people get a chance to enjoy it is not a good business strategy.
It's actually pretty good since it appeals to both core demographics.

Casuals, who don't give a fuck about FAQs, get their epic OP new codex to have fun with.

Competitive players don't get their tournaments ruined for a couple of months.

Yeah, it makes the codex outdated on arrival and we all wish they would test it better, but making a new faction a little OP will always help boost their sales, especially if you aren't sure their models will appeal to people.

A scalper has sold almost 400 of the Votann box on ebay. And that's just one scalper I could find.

The ironic thing?

15% off GW prices? So it's not a scalper? How in god's name did a single store get 400 of the damned things?

It blows my mind that GW is still in business selling starter kits at the same cost as a brand new resin 3d printer.

Perhaps make a trapezoid-shaped cap (preferably 3D-printed) and then glue a thin tin strip on the inside so that it can stay adhered to the magnet?

No idea about how this seller got 400 boxes, but 15% discount seems to be pretty standard for third-party online retailers (whether on ebay or elsewhere), so it's probably sanctioned by GW. You see a lot of shilling for discount retailer Element Games in the UK, for example.

Goblin games UK is great. Rather than a consistent 15%, they do a range of discounts from 5% to 22%. If I ever get a Baneblade, I'm getting it from there.

Got to see Votann in action, they're still crazy strong even post-nerf: easily beating a meta Necron list

Can only imagine the shitshow if they hadn't nerfed them already.

I fully expected GW to keep them OP to sell more minis.

Refunds too, this is very odd.

I'm weak. I hit up one of the ebay resellers selling it at 15% off. Votan box will be here in a week or two, assuming it's not a scam.

I still have no idea how some of these retailers managed to get 400+ boxes. Is GW just printing them off the cuff for some bigger stores?

I think some retailers just order them in large bulk in hopes these models will cover the expenses.

35th Anniversary event just started.

Starting with some very uh, 90s music.

Edit: Pure 40k today. About an hour to 90 minutes.

Reveal 1: Completely new Imperial Guard lineup.

New commissar, new heavy weapons, new sentinel, new command squad, new everything

New "artillery set" which is a heavy gun on wheels, something between heavy weapons and tanks. 100mm base with lots of extra kit like ammo crates to make a mini diorama.

And an army set titled "CADIA STANDS"

IG no longer have to be army-wide the same regiment. So you can have a squad of Death Korps with a Cadian Shock Troops elite squad. They instead allow you to pick army-wide themes like Parade Drills or an Imperial Cult of Sacrifice. Sounds like they did this cause the IG KT stuff was Death Korp but now they're doing Cadians, so...

Reveal 2: Arks of Omen

Galaxy wide Abaddon plot to launch Space Hulks throughout the galaxy surrounded by Chaos Fleets.

New rule for Boarding Actions. Kill Team scenery scaled up to 40k scale, less open spaces. Less long range guns, more terminator style stuff.

Abaddon ... might be betraying Chaos? New character, looks like a DarkMech Magos. Abaddon is searching for tech relics for something.

Reveal 3: Boarding Actions Terrain Package

New terrain, new battlemat, new "void war bases."

A much bigger version of the Into the Dark terrain. For Combat Patrol (~500pt?). Sounds like two Into the Dark boxes worth of terrain. The new bases look pretty good. Come with lots of extra nobbins to glue on top. Probably can just 3d print these.

Reveal 4?: Kill Team: Shadow Vault

Cadia's Elite (Kasrkins) vs Necrons (Hierotek Circle)

Not your normal Necrons, these are Necron Treasure Hunters.

Reveal 5?: World Eaters

World Eaters HQ riding a Juggernaught, Lord Invocatus. He's mentioned in a lot of the Chaos lore but has never had a model? Juggernaught has a custom chainsword horn.

Based on a very classic Chaos Lord on Juggernaught.

One last tease:

A Dark Mechanicus HQ character.

Looks like all of that 35th anniversary buildup was for fucking nothing.

Now I've been imaging that if I ever get myself a Guard army, it would be DKoK, based around getting a bunch of that spiffy multi-part Kill Team set and using them along with other conversion works in place of every Cadian soldier. With this big Cadian refresh and all of these nice new models, however, I can't but now think of throwing out that whole idea. Curiously, one related remark made by the presenters is the notion of Guard armies being comprised of different distinct regiments, providing lore-justification for players to run units like the DKoK Veteran Guardsmen squad alongside regular Cadians. I personally don't like the sound of that, but it makes sense for regular Guard players who just want the flexibility of running any of the Guard kits in their armies without fuss.

Now I was wondering whether or not the continuing Guard tank kits are going to get a new accessory sprue with tank commanders to match the new style, but upon investigating, I don't think that's likely the case since it appears that all of the current tank commanders are jumbled in with the unique sprues of each tank type.

Now it looks as if we're having another campaign to lead up to the next edition, but the notion of having a new cityspacefight rules subset has me puzzled. It seems like something that's going to be completely tossed out a year from now upon a new edition, and rules bloat is already one of the biggest complaints about 9th.
